What do you mean? No assets or a house? It's not how much you make at that level, but how to manage it. I know people that make 200k a year and are 1 paycheck away from disaster. If you are not working on paying off a house or stuffing 15% into retirement accounts, it's not too late to start now.

Parents moved us when I was in 9th grade which ripped me away from my friend base. Spent my high school waiting for my real life to start in college. Spent college waiting for my real life to start after I graduated. Graduated, moved to the city and built my career for 8 years, grinding day in day out, waiting for my real life to start once I made it to the top. Made it near the top of the technical track at my company putting away $400k/year but the stress fucking sucked since everything relied on me. Starting putting everything I had into crypto so I could retire during the next bull run and my real life could start. As soon as I made a few mil from crypto last year I quit. But all I did was lounge around all day in my house playing video games. Played all the video games. Now I just 4chan and watch youtube/TV. I try to read books but I fall asleep. Have no motivation to do any of my hobbies they all seem pointless. I would travel but I can't get myself to spend the money on plane tickets when stocks are crashing and I need to conserve. Wish I made another 2x because I'm rich enough where working is not worth it, but I'm not fuck-you rich where I can blow money on traveling. Everyone I know works and never has time to do anything on week days. And weekends are fucking crowded and suck so I just never do anything. So now I'm wondering when the fuck my real life starts. I think I'm just going to try to go all into BTC on a dip and then hit 8+ figures so I'll be fuck-you rich and then maybe travel the world and my real life can start. If it goes to zero and I run out of money I'll just kill myself.

Now i do

>For the tax year 2017/18, marginal income tax bands are divided in three categories – basic rate of 20%, higher rate of 40%, and an additional rate tax bracket of 45% (personal allowance starts to reduce once an individual’s earnings reach £100,000). As per the tax rules, every two pounds a taxpayer earns in excess of £100,000, his/her tax-free personal allowance (PA) is decreased by one pound. This implies that if an individual’s income is between £100,000 and £120,000, then he/she is essentially taxed at a marginal rate of 60%

10yrs in and nothing else to show for it? If you're married to the job and it's something you're deeply invested in but just can't get anywhere with it, then yes that sucks, but if it's literally just a job to you that puts food on the table and keeps you in doors, then 117k a year can be used for other things, like actual investments. As said above, that's quite far to the right on the income bell curve so any anon in that position should count their blessings.

bullshit, you're about to start the best years of your life...
> 10 years experience is 10 years experience
> 10 years of surviving in the industry means something

Now is the time for you to do free favors to anyone who asks. Continue to build your reputation, but be "helpful" without asking for anything "now". True story...
> in your position, as a restaurant IT guy for large franchise
> up for sale, I am asked by one potential buyer to provide financial data on stores. "anything you can find; just something to give us an idea"
> I get OK from seller, and provide him with 10 years of comprehensive financial data on 70 stores
> He doesn't buy the stores
> 5 years later, cold call from him
> ya, we're buying a block of stores and need someone to handle IT. I thought about that mountain of data you sent me X years ago.
> a handshake deal for ~250k per year Gross.

True story 2, my brother...
> Work desk behind 2 store auto mechanic company
> becomes manager when it goes down to one store
> does the job well
> boss comes in one day
> We need to talk. I've decided to retire. I'm selling the business
> my brother thinking... fuck, what now
> asks... who is buying it?
> you are, he says
> gives him fair terms, banking on his past productivity

> recruits him on the spot
> 30 years and 4 college educations later, he retires comfortably.

True story 4: Sister....
> works dispatch in southern state police
> likes nights, likes alone, volunteers all the time for holidays and the 2x pay
> boss loves her work of course.
> fast forward, boss had retires and moves on to bigger things

True story 4... me, a few years before story 1...
> still working in the stores at this point.
> up for a promotion into the corporate office
> involves inspection
> 2 hours before inspection
> in walks area manager from other district
> guy I covered shifts for several time in the stores he ran (not my direct chain of command)
> walks in with 4 employees.
> they do a rapid super clean
> leave before inspectors arrive, telling no one
> I get the job
> a year later, I get him the VP job
> 6 months after that, we did a hostile takeover of our own bosses when they tried to screw us

>> No.49658030

>>49657763
The hostile takeover is my second favorite story. Worked like this...

Our market was bought out by an out-of-state management group; who's plan (I assume) was to borrow a shit load of money, bleed the company dry on "management fees"; and then abandon the business to the BK courts

I got the call at 9:30 on a wednesday, telling me.... ya, we're closing the stores as of this moment; and oh, no one is getting their pay checks tomorrow.

I talk to my friend, and we decide to fight back. I use my corporate connections (that promotion) to work that end. My friend works his city connections (operations) on that end

We told the employees what was going on; but also told them that we were working on a better idea.

By the next morning, we had worked out the following deals...
> corporate agreed to cover the paychecks, and continue to allow the stores to be run until a new owner could be found; in exchange for us having prevented $15 million of their assets from being destroyed that night.
> a local judge had signed an order barring the previous owners from stepping foot in any of the locations, and ordering that me and my friend be temporary heads to run the operation

So we basically ran the market on our own until someone with money could step in and buy it.
