Selling would lower the price, so they borrow against it instead.
And if the miners ever shut off in mass because it's not profitable, the chain can be attacked by the largest mining pools.
So, the energy burned isn't backing BTC, its a chain around its neck that BTC will hang on eventually.

It would be a zero sum investment but when you add in mining its negative sum, new money must enter the ponzi to buy bitcoin from the miners. New money must enter to reward the initial holders. No value is created by newly mined bitcoin.

Having a real input of electricity which is then converted to waste heat does not mean that the work performed has any value in the finished product. So here you have your answer, 1 btc = 710 400 kWh.
If you mine with the cheapest electricity in the world (Bhutan), the floor price for 1 btc is : 710 400 * 0,036 = 25 574$
