Boomer here. If I lose my phone, but still have the backup codes for each exchange printed out, will I be able to restore my authenticator app? It's just linked to the Google account you associate it with, correct?

keep the backup codes, you'll be able to get into your account with them

there's no way to 'restore' the authenticator app, it's not backed up to your google account by design

if you lose your phone, you can use the backup codes to get into your account and disable 2FA. Then you can set it up again on a new phone.
