I have $500 in hand and would like to start investing in index fund.

Now the only funds that have a minimum of $500 investment are the Charles Schwab index funds.

But I don't know which one to get, is there anyone who could give advice?

http://www.schwab.com/public/schwab/investing/accounts_products/investment/mutual_funds/schwab_mutual_funds/equity/index

There is -
SWPPX - Schwab® S&P 500 Index
SWTSX - Schwab Total Stock Market Index®
SNXFX - Schwab 1000 Index® Fund
SWSSX - Schwab Small Cap Index Fund®
SWISX - Schwab International Index Fund®

Ideally I will have saved enough from my current job to invest in a good vanguard index fund as my family has always used it.

thanks for any advice

Man the fuck up and pick a speculative stock. It's only $500 in the long run.

I'd suggest American Apparel (APP)

Investing $500 in index funds is like starting a new business with $12.

There's a minimum for a reason.

So, he's going to purchase 6 shares of YUM? 6 fucking shares?

American Apparel has a much better upside.

If by upside you mean going bankrupt, then yes, I agree

Under what pretense would I possibly leave before $2.00 a share?
