I have had a similar situation OP. Due to some family bullshit I had to take this semester off, after subsequently dropping out of my last semester.

The best advice I can give you is to pick yourself up, and try to minimaze the fallout, even if all you want to do is let everything crash and burn.

Some tips of the top of my head:

>if it is too late to raise your grade DROP or WITHDRAW. Is better than getting a shit grade AND getting slapped with a fee from financial aid because you didnt pass the classes.

>At least talk to someone about what you are going through. Ideally someone outside of the family. A professional can be a good idea. It will help you figure out what to do next.

>Remember that your biggest worry now should be figuring out how to move forward.

I wish you luck OP. Failing a semester is tough. Now 7 months into this and is still not easy. The only positive is that I have saved somewhere north of 7k, and that money in investment will go a long way in paying for a few nice experiences and pleasures every year until I finish my degree when I finally get back to school. Which is my only solace from this whole situation.
