Aside from possibly buying AMD at a low today and selling when it bounces back up a dollar or two, what else can you guys suggest? Can't daytrade (work rules) so I have to either hold overnight or for longer. Don't mind having to wait a few days or a couple weeks to make a decent profit. It depends. Something like Interactive Brokers charges you a fraction of a penny per share you trade or $20 per month, whichever is greater, then you also have to pay for market data subscription which will run another $10-$20+. It's not that bad.

Etrade, even at "pro rates" is like $4.95 / trade commission and that shit adds up quick. You don't have to pay for market data with Etrade though.

I closed my Interactive Brokers account and moved all the money back into my Etrade account just because I didn't like the IB platform for trading on my phone, it was more complicated and less streamlined than the Etrade app in my opinion. I'm away from my computer and have to trade on my phone like 75% of the time so that was pretty important to me. I've racked up more commission fees in the last 3 months using Etrade than I would have accumulated in an entire year using Interactive Brokers though...

I'm just gonna hodl in case this is the bottom of the dip. If it dips below 10USD I'm going to put 3x what I already put in into buying more.

The intellectual property of AMD alone makes them worth more if they were to put themselves up for sale. The fact that they now are starting to earn again and are multitrack drifting their way forwards to earning much more just makes panicking about AMD even dumber. No matter if it goes down or not, it's certainly going to recover and rise again to significantly beyond 14USD.

I swear, 60% of biz have a brain that only allows them to experience reality from the inside of a dump or a pump in a pump and dump and all they think about is the current trajectory of a share or currency.

I have a question I hope my fellow NEETs know the answer to. Since short term capital gains are taxed as income, does that mean you don't have to pay taxes on it if you make less than $10k or is there some kind of special rule where you have to pay no matter what?

Equities have become less and less correlated to the dollar index, this year in particular.

The dollar should go up, in the coming months, should the Fed be able to continue its expected rate hike program into next year (3 rate hikes in 2018, with balance sheet reduction going on slowly in the background - all of which is bullish on the dollar).

Underlying economy seems to be increasingly strong. I just get pissed off at equity prices because I know they'd be lower if interest rates were around 5%.

Trump will be deciding on who's going to be the next Fed chairperson, soon. That will have an impact on the dollar in the short term.

John Taylor is a based economist who would blast the fuck out of rates, so if he gets chosen, expect a strong rally in the US dollar. If Yellen is re-elected, there will still be a a movement higher, but probably not as strong. If it's Jerome Powell, probably a rally too, but he's not as keen on rate hikes and reducing the balance sheet (which is not as bullish on the dollar).

The Dow will recover pretty soon (boosted by things like CAT), idk about medium term though, hopefully Trump can get through some form on tax reform. My honest opinion is this is the start of a slow slide that will bring our dow and spx back about 10% within 3 months. I think the anticipation of tax reform is already reflected in the market, and even if it comes we're still sliding, if some serious reform isn't passed by the November recess run as fast as you can!
