I think I decided to become an investor at the worst moment.
In case of a swift deep crash I wouldn't even be upset — my stocks are solid enough to recover, so I would be able to simply double down and end up with some gains.
If we're in a slowly descending bear market however... Well, I still have cash.

The main argument is if making decisions based purely on price action is profitable or not.
IMO it's not profitable neither in the short term nor in the long term.

Swinging based on catalysts and not widely available information (i.e. an edge) is absolutely valid and should be pursued nowadays.

Hurr durr.
It took 1000 years for the Roman empire to fall. The last 400 was utter and complete corruption and dozens of civil wars.
The soviet union was doomed from year 0, and still took like 50 years to fall.

If you don't think JPM can just call their friends to make them roll their silver futures a few months, you deserve your loss.
Meanwhile all physical silver holders get fucked by premiums, thinking it's "the real value", while in fact it's just jews doing jewish things and the whole thing will blow over in summer.

The Soviet Union was never an actual economic power. They were effective at counterintelligence to make the West think they were, but behind the wall they were a basket case, as we discovered once the wall fell and their archives were made public.
As for the Roman Empire, its decline took hundreds of years.
Despite what CNN and the blackpills here want you to believe, the United States is still the sole global superpower. A sudden collapse out of nowhere would be unprecedented in human history. Empires decline, they don't collapse.

>As for the Roman Empire, its decline took hundreds of years.
The most correct analogies with what is going on today are things like John Law's France, the Greenbacks of the 1860s or the hyperinflations which have taken place in any number of different countries which gave way to rampant fiat-money money-printing (Germany, Austria, Hungary, etc.). I only brought up the example of the Roman Empire to shake your normalcy bias which appears to have you think that "whatever has been, always will be."

>Despite what CNN and the blackpills here want you to believe
CNN wouldn't doubt for a moment that the U. S. is a superpower, it's bizarre that you think that they're saying the opposite.

>They don't work out like 60% of the time, but when they do, it's 10x.
I’ve always wanted to backtest a strategy where you buy 1000 dollars worth of daily SPY options expiring EOD that are trading at $0.05 around 3:40pm. I really think you’d end up making enough 10xers to get away with it.

There was a period of like 2 weeks back in the summer where if you bought otm options at 2:50pmish every single day you’d 3-10x them by eod.
Of course I’d always chicken out and sell at 2x, and then sure enough everything would melt up starting at 3:55pm and hit all my targets and meme lines.

Shroombros...

>> No.30218116

Is there some way to lock in rates when buying a bond ETF? When you buy bonds directly, you are guaranteed that you will receive, say, your capital plus 20% interest in 10 years.
But with bond ETFs there is no such guarantee. If the Fed decreases the interest rate on the bonds and the market dumps them at the same time you could end up with negative returns in 10 years
