So, who thinks market is going to go down tomorrow? had some bad futures since they opened, very bad earlier, but they are rebounding a bit.

Also, what are you all looking to buy? It seems to me given WTI and NASDAQ being hit harder than the DOW, that perhaps we might see another blood red tech day but green for oil. My plan is to rotate even more profit from oil to buy the huge tech dip if that is what occurs.

>There are so many companies that do nothing but burn cash and hide it as "growth costs"

This has been my bugbear for a few threads today. Can I interest you in Greensill Capital?

They do reverse factoring. Here's how it works. You're a company like Vodafone. You buy materials from suppliers and pay them a few weeks later (this is common). Greensill comes in and says to your supplier "I'll pay you now if you take 98% of the total", making money on the difference. Greensill then tells you to extend your payment terms to 2 years so your suppliers basically have to go through Greensill.

Here's where it becomes brilliant. Vodafone now owes Greensill for the payment Greensill factored. A "debt-like obligation" if you will. Except for purely technical reasons, this obligation doesn't count as debt. You literally do not have to list it on your balance sheet as debt. You simply list the payments on the totally-not-debt as operating expenses.

Greensill would likely face scrutiny for this practice if it was a bank. But Greensill isn't a bank, it's a tech company, so none of the banking regulations apply. They're a not-bank that makes not-loans that count as not-debt.

The actual payment obligations are then collateralized and sold off to investment banks, mostly Credit Suisse.

A few days ago Credit Suisse shut down the 2B fund they had of Greensill supply chain contracts, likely after reassessing their risk at higher interest rates. Greensill is now slowly imploding, and a bunch of companies that have been using reverse factoring to juice their balance sheets are going down with it. The best part is we have no idea what companies will go or how many. These reverse factoring obligations are not tracked in any way.

Also Softbank invested Billions into Geensill. Greensill got scrubbed from the Softbank website today (lmao) and Softbank is writing down a 1.5B loss. Softbank made this investment in the same fund that put a billion into Wirecard.

A couple Softbank-backed companies were also balls deep in Greensill financing before going under. It looks to me like Softbank invested in Greensill to basically buy a money printer to churn cash through their other investments.

Greensill is also balls deep in with Sanjeev Gupta which is a whole thing.

Oh and I forgot another great detail - Softbank also invested 500M in the Credit Suisse supply chain finance fund that held the reverse factoring obligations, a large percentage of which came from Softbank companies. Literally doing shadow financing of their own investments.

I'm losing my mind over this shit because I've been following this reverse factoring finance for a few years now absolutely shocked at what looks to me like blatant fraud, and now it's actually going. It's been totally under the radar because the scale of it isn't tracked in any way. Greensill has applied for save harbor in Australia to process insolvency in a way that shields executives from legal consequences lmao.

BaFin found Greensill was booking income from Sanjeev Gupta that had yet to be paid. Full on Enron shit.

It's true.

In 2009 Vodafone hired Citi to come up with supply chain financing solutions. One of the main bankers they worked with was Lex Greensill.

Greensill later leaves Citi to start his own thing, and is hired by Vodafone for more supply chain finance. Vodafone was the foundational client for Greensill.

Also an executive left Vodafone to be Greensill's CFO. Unrelated, Greensill's head of auditing is Pat Allin, founder of Textura (software company sued for fraud). Great executive team.

I should add that the concept of reverse factoring in general is very old. Greensill's invention was collateralizing reverse factoring obligations into financial instruments and selling them to banks, as well as doing this whole thing through a tech company to avoid bank regulations.

You can do two things but first, you want to place the calls super OTM, say 30%. You place the covered call 30% OTM and then check daily. If there is a run up and the stock price is within a % threshold you set for your own mental comfort, you can buy back/roll the call and collect whatever premium you collect and keep your shares. Or, being what SOXL does, if you get caught with your pants down and you lose the shares, all you do is wait for the next trading day or two and re-enter when SOXL does its negative 6-10% thing (which always happens). At the very least with scenario two, you get max premium on your contract, plus the difference when you buy in lower a few days later.

Thank fuck this thread isn't just redditors. We had an anon in here during a morning thread a week or two ago talking at length about leveraged ETFs. Something he said, which I had never thought of before, is that 1x is still some function of leverage. By that standard why aren't these faggots investing in 0.5x? Maybe 0.25 would be safe? It's the same logic. Just push the leverage as far as you can without risking some structural issue like bottoming out during downturns. 3x leverage has been shown to have the greatest reward without risk of bottoming out entirely during crashes. Apparently 2.5x is the absolute best you could have but 3x is close enough.

Should we keep 20% of our portfolio in cash? all you have to do is have some money in hand and buy half gold half gold miners and you get an easy x5. Shits getting kind of bad esp for big tech.
