I think it could be a massive crash/depression if the fed ever stops money printing. I mean when the economy restarts it's not going to make things better, it's going to make things worse as moratoriums go away and tons of renters become homeless overnight and property owners go down the road of forbearance/foreclosure.
The only thing that's uncertain to me is whether the fed will stop printing money, let the economy take its medicine, go into a recession/depression for 5 years to a decade and then let the economy recover. OR whether they've decided that losses can just never happen so everyone gets free money and we get into hyperinflation.
Personally I'm more of a believer in the latter, just because the fed focuses more on employment statistics than the value of money, because it's better for elections. Except that employment doesn't matter if the dollars people are getting paid in are becoming worthless... that's what we've been seeing happen right in front of us this last decade.
Inflation or deflation, the economy is fucked, and metals/crypto are a good way to run away from it all. If it's more recession like and the fed stops printing money then gold/crypto will go up but it'll crash a bit after a while (like the btc market cycles we have now, mean is going up but crashes happen). But if it's more inflationary and they don't stop printing... that's when you want to make sure you have some commodities for a rainy day.
