when i was a kid my cousin had a finger box and i was really jealous. all the grown ups talking about their finger boxes and the experiences they had with them. i was white trash with a single mom that never bought me a finger box.
so one day i stole my cousins finger box. next day he was so sad. asked me if i had seen it. i felt really bad but i really wanted it. the next week my cousin was riding his bike and was hit and killed by some drunk. when it was almost time for the funeral, his parents were looking every where for the finger box. the whole family tried to find it. then his mom asked if i had seen it. she said it was my cousins most prized possession and that they had to have it to put in his coffin and bury him with it.
of course i lied and they had to bury him without it. i still feel like shit because of it. and the sad thing was i never even used it. rip cousin

I have a handmade ceramic one, can post it later I'm at work right now. Bought that baby back in 2008 just when the crisis unfolded, so i got it real cheap. I wonder what it costs nowadays, 3x'd for sure.
To think that these boxes went from 3 to 5 digits in a matter of years is insane.

I guess you are a youngster. Possibly could have earned more than that unless you already paid the black market premium when you bought it.
UK banned the
sale/distribution/possesion of any fingerboxes manufactured after 1958. Ones before then (in this country) are extremely rare and require a license to own. The license is a major hassle to aquire as you need to prove the chain of ownership of it dating back to its *original* sale. Without this it is confiscated (they get stored in the archives at natural history museum)
As this is extremely hard to prove you will usually only find them in
a) stately homes where it has been in the family for generations since its original purchase
b) limited exhibits at the museums

you have people finding them in lofts or among possesions of deceased relatives who were alive during war time. unless you know them personally and they show you, you wont know as most people who show it off have it confiscated. As most wont be able to obtain the license they just keep the fuck quiet and use it secretly and dont show/tell anyone.
