My wife and I just bought a 2012 Subaru with 30k miles on it. It drives great. We had to replace the 6 year old tires though.

The most expensive part of a merc isn't the up front cost, it's the maintenance. Former MB employee here.
29K is high price for an 8 year old car (2010s were assembled in 2009). make sure it comes with all maintenance records and work was done at a MB dealership with OEM parts. Have it inspected by a MB mechanic; that'll run you a few hundred $ but worth it in the long run. I dont think there is a major service due until 70k but you'll need to see how much that will run you, assuming there is nothing else major going on with it.
These cars are ok i guess, not worth that amount of money though, because after the Chrystler merger the quality went in the shitter.

the s550 from that generation is pretty known for being reliable though... like, in comparison to other german cars at least

>> No.2996150

and i'm sure it rides and drives like an S class

>> No.2996229

Buying a used s class is retarded. Buying a new one is alright because it's a good car if money is no issue.

I feel you want this car to feel high class? Sure it has a lot for cool features. But you'll get raped from maintenance costs if you want it to keep running top.

30 grand for a near decade old car? Why would you do that, just buy a decent regular car

>> No.2996863

Was likely owned by old people.

You have been brainwashed. I have been driving this Volkswagen Golf for ages and it is close to 200,000 miles with 120 HP and still trucking along. Car is like 22 years old and still runs. Pretty amazing.

Average life expentency is also 300,000 miles for the engine

Germans haven't made a good car since 1995. The old w126 and w140 Mercedes are patrician-tier

>> No.2997256

>thirty thousand dollars for a used "luxury" car
I thought this board was supposed to have people who know how to make smart money decisions? Why is a nearly eight year old S550 something you want to buy?
