Apart from the obvious (I need the money, havent made it yet):

It gives me something to do. I work in a field I enjoy and I find if I am on a too long vacation or unemployed for too long I get stir-crazy. I enjoy waking up, going through my morning rituals and getting going. It is a solid block of creativity through the day and I can relax in the evening. I am lucky in that regard.

Also, I enjoy the company. If I did not have a place to go to every day I'd isolate myself too much. I've gone through a two year period before where I almost literally only talked to myself or people over microphone (lived alone in a different country, didnt befriend anyone). I like saying good day to others and sharing gossip, and even working with others to solve something.

I have often reflected that in the case of me "making it" I'd still probably keep a job, or create one for myself where I'd have some kind of purpose.

Many jobs do suck ass though. I'd kms if I'd work at McDonalds.

I spent the last 18 months NEETing, now I'm working an 11 week contract to win the favor of my parents.

Because lying in bed playing TF2 and shitposting on here all day is the mental equivalent of being obese and letting your cardio go to shit; you need to keep mentally active and socially active (by interacting with people) otherwise you're just storing up all kinds of issues for down the line (much like being 300lbs does to your physical health).
