Technically I make $3400 a month. Actual take home is $2600. I usually have about $1k to spare every month. Half of which I throw into an emergency fund. Half of the remaining I invest into crypto. The rest is for incidentals and fun shit. It's not much, but I don't have any debt this way. My ESPP shares unlock every 6 months too, so that's a nice spring/holiday infusion of cash. And I can always cash out some crypto in a real pinch.

Paying monthly for a fucking car is the stupidest part of american culture. My 2 closest friends told me I was stupid for buying a $4000 used car years ago because I'd "have to make repairs" and it could "cost just as much as a new car" even though it was checked by a mechanic and was legally reconstructed because of multiple new parts. Except both are now 10-15k in debt and have had thousands of dollars worth of repairs. The only thing I have ever had to replace on my car was the battery, for about $200. Just think about that. They each are in debt for more than twice what I paid for my car STILL after a few years of payments and they have had to pay about half of what I paid in repairs even though the cars were new because they got "cheap" new cars rather than a reliable lasts-forever car with a good track record.

I can understand rent, because rent is obscenely high in places, but holy fuck. You do not NEED a brand new car. You spend mabe 1 hour tops in your car on weekdays unless you do delivery driving or regular road trips. The myth that it's better value in the long run is stupid. A beater with a legitimate mechanic check under 5k is all you need.
