What are the best options for Canadian retail investors?
Kraken doesn't accept wire transfers from Canada (except BMO)
Coinbase has 300$ deposit limits for Canadian banks.
I could use uniswap but gas fees are too much.

NDAX is okay. 0.2% fees, deposits are usually either instant or within 30 minutes. Their site isn't a buggy piece of dogshit. Only downside is they don't have many listings. My favourite part though is they favour ADA so it has a lower spread.

TD bank is really crypto-friendly fyi, when I had to call them to whitelist binance, they just seemed genuinely interested/supportive, and then offered me a 3% interest line of credit for investing lel. Even when I got a call about a $10k transfer to my account from paypal (the quickest way to cash out I've found), as soon as I said it was from crypto they were just like "ok that makes sense" and didnt bother me anymore about 5 figure transfers to or from my account

3% line of credit? Damn. When I went to open mine with RBC in 2018 I told them it was for buying crypto and they said cool, do you want 20K, 30? I just took 10 but it's fucking 8%

I want to take a crypto loan to buy a house but I'm a little nervous of dealing with bankers after being some comfy in crypto.
Do I call someone before depositing 5 figs?

The only fees you pay are when you transfer to another wallet and gas fees are high. Newton has a cap on how much they cover for gas, anything over that you pay.

But deposits and withdrawals to your bank are 0% fees.
https://www.cryptolens.ca/
You can use this site to see how much BTC you actual can get from various CAD exchanges. Anything under 10k at a time and newton is the cheapest. After that you have wire transfers involved because e-transfer max is 10k

What should I use if I just want to drop $50 on half a dozen longshot ally coins for fun and let them sit for potentially years? Zero interest in everyday regular trading.

Binance cool? What's a reliable wallet I can use? I'd prefer to keep the data on a thumb drive than on my PC.

Newton is hands down the best Canadian exchange, allows you to buy, sell, and transfer BTC, ETH, USDT, and USDC plus some other tokens. No fees, plus they even cover a small portion of the transfer fees.

Just send to your wallet after you buy and trade on UniSwap or SushiSwap.

I think its cause I also got a mortgage with them this year. But interest rates are low as fuck right now, its a better time than ever to take on good debt. My mortgage was only 1.9% for a 25 year term. Even though they rarely increase rates radically, I doubt they'll get much lower here (although I heard japan is offering negative interest loans)

>>28791423
I mean, maybe, I also have a business that I run through a separate account, but they just generally didn't seem to care as long as the funds cleared. They're mostly worried about people falling for "send me 1btc Ill send you 2btc back!" scams, not people buying btc on coinbase or something. The transfers were blocked initially and I had to call to have them whitelisted, but their customer support is pretty quick and it wasn't a huge issue at all, and I havent had any problems since.

Yeah, I've bought ETH from newton and transferred it out fine. Buying the actual ETH with have no fee, but transfer to another wallet will have a fee depending on current gas fees in the ETH network.
Newton will always cover a certain amount of gas, anything over that you pay. If gas is high, you can always wait a bit for it to go down again.
