I for example saved up a lot of money, started a business, and it failed, lost everything. Would have made more money just by playing games, because i sold my bitcoins at a bad price to keep the business alive.
And investing is not always as easy as now. Crypto and stocks been going up like crazy in a recent months. It was not this easy in a bear market, and bear market will return.

I reached 99 in all combat stats in OSRS and then was going to go for 99 slayer, stopped at 97. Literally thinking dude you are 30 years old and spend hours a day playing a Java based clicker game. Runescape taught me how to type and how to not trust random strangers cause everyone's a scammer. CoD taught me that people are petty shitheads and lots of dudes are huge fucking losers with no drive or motivation. Don't end up like them. CSGO taught me that even if you're one of the best (Global Elite and ESEA A+) that if your team is shit you are going nowhere. Couldn't get out of Intermediate because these fucking shitters couldn't carry their weight. Ditch the losers, look for winners. SQUAD taught me that coordination and teamwork often wins out in the long run. A poor squad leader is a poor leader, and there are profiles you can use to detect a piss poor leader or subordinate. A good leader also has a profile, alongside a good, level headed worker. It taught me how to manage people effectively, how to not lose my cool and crack under pressure (unlike CSGO). Apex Legends taught me to let go of losing. Solo queing in Apex Legends is a shit draw. It can be good or bad (Usually bad). But it doesn't matter because it's just a casual game with no real meaning behind it except to waste time. Last year I was able to completely quit and just focus on work and investing.

Fuck video games. But also I owe a lot to video games. Cringe I know. But how the fuck else was I supposed to get these life lessons while being a loser?

No. I have been pretty diverse in my life experiences and activities. I’ve gone out and lived life and real life, gained a variety of practical skills, I work hard in my job, I work hard at building my investments, and spend time with my family and friends. I don’t mind playing games from time to time. If you have done none of these things then I suggest you do but that’s just as part of diversifying your time.

I cannot enjoy playing any games any more because of an overwhelming guilt I feel of wasting time when I could be doing something better (was huge into WOW on release and wasted so much time). They are 100% a time sink. Plenty of other hobbies at least gives you some practical skills. The good thing is you realized and acknowledged this before it was too late. playing video games in moderation is okay, its good to have some fun sometimes. financial gainsmaxxing will make you miserable over time, try to invest but dont overdo it starting at graphs 24/7 like you shouldnt play games all day.

For the runescape case, skillers and gamblers are autists. Real chads log in to do one or two hours of pvp. Only children and NEETs can put in that many hours.
