My parents had to pay 800k for a 0.3 acre plot in a decent place (with a second row view of the alps, surrounded by close neighbors on two sides, with an old shitty overcompartmentalised brick house from the 80's. Now they have to tear it down for 35k so they can build a 3,2k sqft house that will cost them 1.5 mil. Any builder offering prices under 1mil here has the shittiest design and material choices - they just build ugly houses with styrofoam insulation.

That is the extent to which germans love to be cucked. The entire area around munich, berlin and hamburg are like this.

The housing market in the US is fucked. It's a complicated problem with a lot of shit balancing up against eachother. Most of it stems from the simple fact that we seem to want all that we can get and without considering or not caring about the repercussions, and people take advantage of that. Generally, we are complacent with getting fucked in the ass for our whole lives, and in every facet of our lives. Reasonably, we are compensated fairly for a lot of low tier jobs, e.g. burger flipping or retail, but damn near everything else is either excruciatingly competitive so the average person has to settle, or doesn't suit the average persons inclinations or ability so they again settle. The bootstraps shit is from outliers, arguably more in line with the "American Spirit" though they may be. This is a mindset that not many people have due to a mixture of low motivation and entitlement. The how's and why's are up for debate. I fall victim to it too sometimes, but I at the very least try to resist thinking that way. We need to change our mindset if we want to survive, otherwise the ass fucking is only going to get worse.

For every one person who sells an old house that's another buyer who's probably going to live in that old house for decades more into the future.
