There seems to be a lot of confusion on what a suicide stack up and a make it stack is these days, so allow me to explain.

Back in 2017, when a single link's price was about 0.15 to 0.40, there were two categories of linkies on /biz/ : the ones who believed in link 100%, and the ones who weren't sure it would actually rise that much.

At the time there was a story from reddit of someone's brother who committed suicide because be knew about bitcoin from almost the start but didn't mine it nor bought it when it was cheap. Seeing it rise to 10k+ was too much for him.
At the time also, the consensus was that to make it with bitcoin, you needed 21 btc, because that was 1/1.000.000 of total supply, meaning that there can never be more than 999.999 person in the whole universe with more btc than you.
So the reasoning of the linkies who where not sure about link was that since you're not sure, you can't put all your money into link. But since you don't want to kys like this reddit brother, you need a stack big enough that you're doing ok if link goes to the moon.

Hence the birth of the suicide stack meme. Imagine buying 21 btc for 10 dollars a coin. Sure you'll be frustrated to not have more, but you're part of the 21 bitcoin club, nothing to kill yourself over.
So by the same reasoning, buying 1000 link (1/1.000.000 of total supply) for the cheap price or 150-400 dollars would put you in the same situation.

So that mean two things : that the suicide stack isn't necessarily not a make it stack since at the time the term was coined the idea was that it might be enough to make it ; and that the idea of a 1000 link suicide stack doesn't make sense in 2020 when it cost 16k.

It also doesn't make as much sense now since the notion of a suicide stack implies that you're unsure about link. Now that link has been confirmed leader of the DeFi bubble it's not just some crypto you throw dollars at just in case, it's a legit investment, if you learned about it just now and it does a x100 again you're not going to kys just because you didn't bought 3 years ago, just like if you learn about bitcoin in 2017 you're not going to kys just for not buying in 2011.

So my conclusion to nulinkers is that a "suicide stack" is any number you're comfortable investing and maybe losing right now, don't let oldfags and larpers make you insecure about your stack, most of them were in a similar situation with btc and eth a few years ago, priced out of a significant amount.
Invest what you're comfy with and keep your eyes open for the next gem

Suicide stacks are usually 1k. It refers to the amount you need to not want to kill yourself in case a project moons hard. It's technically an anti-suicide stack.
