The whole family got covid, tested positive, and the dad ended up hyperventilating one day. It was so bad that he couldnt breathe, they took him to ER and he got placed in ICU. After a while his oxygen levels weren't getting better so they put him on a ventilator. It seemed like he was doing alright based on updates I got from my friend, but a couple weeks later he told me that it was hopeless and that they had to pull the plug.
Seemed to me like the hospital might not have handled things properly, but it was definitely covid and the fact that they were so overwhelmed with covid patients can also be contributed to covid.
Extremely fucking sad though, the family couldnt visit or anything during this entire ordeal. Even when they pulled the plug they were not allowed to be there.
This happened right before Christmas and days before the dads birthday.

The way the hospital handled the whole ventilator situation definitely gave me pause and I told my mom before the dad died that something didnt feel right. But again my friend was just giving me some of the details, and his mom is a nurse and his sister is in healthcare so I thought they knew what decisions were the right ones to make. It just all went down so fast and then fact that you cant actually be there probably forced them to put their faith into the hospital staff, which probably cost him his life.
