28382394 No.28382394 [Reply] [Original]

But I am bored out of my mind. I graduated university a year ago with a masters in Finance but then Link took off so I decided to not look for work, because why should I? But now I basically do nothing all day. I also feel that I kind of wasted all those years in university. I also feel guilty because I feel I should be doing something with my life in terms of building a career (even though I don't have to do it for money) especially in my prime years. My old uni friends hardly make any money but they do get to do interesting things at their jobs, and meet new people (internationally aswell) and so on.

I've been thinking of starting some business or my own investment fund to kind of mimic having a working life, but working for myself instead of making a boss rich. But I really don't know where to begin.

I know money will allow you to focus on hobbies and interests but those things will get old after a while aswell. Any other anon here in the same situation? My main problem is just feeling guilt and shame of not using my youthful energy and ambition to build something great desu.

I am not German, I'm Dutch. And I am not talking about working in a wage cage. I am talking about people I know who do fulfilling jobs, like my father is an aircraft engineer and does something he's proud of. That's kind of the point I am making, yes number big on bank account, but life is empty.

Could get a PhD, can be fun with no need to worry about getting a job in academia or anything.

Could train, like a serious athlete for a few years if you're into that shit.

Finance careers are hell holes. Unless you want to help people the uneducated and poor who can't fathom how easy 100 a month in an index fund and a 100 a month in crypt could change their lives in 15 years.

If you live in the Netherlands though, l don't reckon poor people are numerous.

Anon, you're young as fuck. You don't HAVE to make any concrete decision right now. But I'm in a similar situation and I am giving myself a year to travel around and figure out something that will give me long term joy. For me, it sure as shit isn't a "career", it's something creative, but you do you.

You've removed one of life's biggest motivators (needing money)

99% of people don't know how you feel because they're so busy working and tired once it's done they have no time to figure out what their passion or purpose is in life.

You have a privilege, to take a step back with no financial worry and find your purpose.

Saying is so much easier than finding it, finding it requires trying new things, which most people hate, they hate change, but guess what OP, you're not most people anymore so man the fuck up and start acting like it.

Get comfortable with change and start trying new things, the longer you stand still the more your thoughts will turn on you, you need growth to be happy, watch some Tony Robbins or some shit if you need a kick start, but you have to grow some balls if you want a purpose, and those with a purpose are the only ones that are happy.

Well, I don't think that I can make a good entrepreneur advice since I am a russian povertyfag, but I guess I can try saying something about just being happy, having a purpose and having a good feel about yourself.
In Russia, they say "you can't buy happiness with money", and I can agree with that in some degree. I have met people who "made it" and yet they seemed, you know, unhappy and bored of life with no goal.

What do I want to say to you, anon. You are right about hobbies, they really help. Even the smallest ones give you a lot of interest, keep you always hungry for some knowledge, keep you creative, help you think better of yourself. Try travelling to some places you've always wanted to visit as a child, look at different cultures and people, maybe something will get into your mind and heart. Try something creative: miniature painting, woodcarving, cooking, drawing, whatever interest you even just a little bit, and I know it, you will find eventually something that makes you go to sleep with thoughts about the next day. Just like when you were a kid, anon, you still remember that feeling? Best feeling you can ever get.

Speaking from personal experience, hobbies are something that stops me from ending it all. I was an artist, made high end chocolate sweets, made music.. that kept me from some thoughts about not having enough money to buy some meat or fruits for the next week, and it helped!
Now, as a hobby, I grow mushrooms, make hybrids, experiment with their genetics and that makes me the happiest I ever was despite being in poverty. Watching something you've planted grow is something dream-like. Now I just dream of starting a small urban mushroom farm and that makes me smile as I fall asleep.
I always try to encourage anons to start a hobby, because if it can make even a person like me happy, it can definitely make some successful anons happy as well.

I wish you the best of luck, anon.

So just keep thinking about that and researching until it becomes less vague. I do something called 'morning pages' which is 3 pages of stream of consciousness writing per day, i've come up with loads of good ideas for projects, stuff i want to improve at work etc just by writing out whatever shit is in my brain every day, maybe try that. Then once you've got something more solid, work out what your first active step is and go from there. Read do the work by pressfield and deep work by cal newport. Most idiots on this board think they will be happy once they've 'made it'. Actually happiness doesnt even exist, but you will be fulfilled if you do something fulfilling with your life

I have been jobless since August. I wasted most of my time with video games and trying different things to figure out myself. Now I'm well invested with crypto and wanted to hop in with this new technology trend. Planning to study solidity and flutter.

I can still live with my little savings. I withdrawn 50% of my money from stocks (with 38.7% gain) and planning to invest in crypto. Currently eyeing AVAX and projects that will be built in their network. Maybe some bitcoin just because it's being meme'd by Elon and probably be included in mastercard.

Hopefully I can reach your current status so that I have more time to study the field of block chain technology.

My advice is to set aside 10 minutes each day, without distraction, to focus on your innermost self: find the seed of your soul that you carried proudly and happily as a child, the same seed that got milled into dust by school and society. Do this diligently and earnestly for as long as it takes.
This is not about finding a job - anyone can do a job - but about finding meaningful work, finding a task that only you are suited towards.
But first you must rediscover who you really are beneath the layers of bullshit.
If you don't believe in the existence of such a seed, that belief is the result of your socialisation. Destroy it. Find childhood memories that show glimpses of that perennial green shoot and hold onto them. Objects that you loved, music, toys, places, games and modes of play: they are all clues, handholds on the way to the top of the mountain.
The only way to truly make it is by leaving behind the bland mass of society spiritually. Only then does life carry meaning, because solely through such a process you will find the reason for which you will gladly give your life, and then be able to die a good death.
Once your soul starts whispering to you again, everything will fall into place.

I am on track to replicate your life OP. Currently
100k folio at 21. I am planning to stay the next 4 years in school, doing my masters too. Taking it easy not cashing out anything just working a side job in order to pay the bills instead. Maybe doing a 6 month long term trade here and there, if I have time to do research. A 20x in 4 years crypto is possible I think. Any advice ? I want to meet girls while being incognito rich, even if that means I need to go the shrink in order to eat pills. I am certain the would diagnose me ADD at any second

Unless you start doing something physical or something that trigger the reward mechanism of your brain you will probably kill yourself in some years.
My advice is to keep 1m generating intetest and start a company or some big project with the rest. At the end of the day 2m is fuck nothing with you enter in the business world.

Grow something! There is nothing better than watching something that you bring to life growing and developing.

I'm still in the process of filling that bed up, hopefully to the top. In the meantime I've put leaves and woodchip at the bottom and I'm covering the soil in there to stop weeds taking over. It's also a Hugelkultur bed so there's about a foot of rotting wood about two feet below the surface.

I don’t want to doxx myself, but I have a dashboard app that gets 78k visitors a month and I maintain all costs of it myself and made it available for free, no Jewgle tracking codes no ads, just pure data to help crypto grow.
I’d suggest just making shit you love and honestly learning to code is a great first step.

I am in a similiar situation. Getting close to 2M now with stinky linkies. Actually quit my 10 yr engineer job back in 2017, not because of crypto but a spat with long time boss. After 2 years of neetism, went to a different eng job but quit immediately when I realized the management system and setting was fucked to hell. Now I cannot fathom going back to work in my career for someone elses benefit. I would immediately not give two shits when push comes to shove.
Having neet'd for a while, the hobbies have become stale and everything is boring. Will probably buy a laser cutter and some other cnc stuff and work on cool stuff like wooden topology maps or w/e. Maybe try to sell shit on etsy. But I definitely miss social life from work. Miss stuff like christmas parties and the like. Gotta figure out a nice place to volunteer that can be stimulating.
