I've theorized eth should have a much higher market cap than it does, but the sluggish network and gas fees prevent that from happening. So if cardano establishes itself ans dominate defi platform I think we could go much higher than eth will ever be able to go, and potentially flip BTC in the long term

I've thought the same thing, my only concern with that theory is that Eth's gas fees don't change the dominating psychology in the space, that Eth is the only available moonshot which means all of the speculative value was already driving Eth's market cap extremely high. So Cardano's market cap may end up only slightly higher than Eth's current.
