the problem is taxes, swing trading like that could crush you on capital gains if you're playing with big money; imagine taking a "profit" by selling into another coin or tether, that is a taxable event, and then you buy back in when it dips. You still owe the IRS for that sell at the top, and that could run you 10s of thousands of dollars that you don't technically have liquid. That's if you're doing this the good goy way at least.

If I feel like risking a bit... what's stopping me from selling at the next peak, one tick after I see it plummeting, and then re-buying when it's comfortably low again?

I see a 0.5% fee going to coinbase in both transactions, but when the difference is over 1% that's net profit, right? And if it doesn't dip again, I can try it with another coin that's currently low... but has an overall upwards trend. In each case, as long as I'm over the 1% transaction fee in buy/sell, I'm going to end up in a net-positive position right?
