28326660 No.28326660 [Reply] [Original]

After 3 years, I am done. I am fucking sick of holding this trash. I have held nothing but it since 2018. Effectively fucking myself.

What is the best platform, KYC free, to move it to and start trading for BTC/ETH?

I have 430 XMR I need to unload. I am fucking done. I can't explain why this shit won't move (I do believe it is the best technical coin out there) but here we are. If I had never traded all my BTC for it I would be a fucking multimillionaire now. Instead I have ~65k.

Unironically don't fucking buy monero unless you are going to flip it immediately for drugs. I see no serious financial future in this coin.

Why? What reason do I have to hold any of it?

People keep coming up with new copes for the price collapsing vs BTC/ETH. Now its SHORTS, as if people are out of ideas and just copying from the gamestop bullshit.
I've given up trying to understand why this thing simply refuses to even keep pace with the market, despite being the best from a technical standpoint. My only idea is it is not listed on coinbase. And if that isn't going to change, whats the point of holding it?

Sure, I am grateful in that sense. But I also was never going to get suckered into buying shit like omisego or whatever. I legitimately did tons of research and Monero's value proposition was easily the best.

I've learned. Raw technicals don't matter. Not even a little bit (which I hoped that in the long run, they would). But literally, they don't even matter 1%. Its literally not a concern.

This is probably pretty much it anon. It's difficult to access for the fomo crowd and your average retard thinks it's just for buying drugs rather than recognizing that it is arguably better than btc at being digital money.

I feel you tho, holding this pos since it was bitmonero. It's the only coin I get a bit emotional about selling as from a rational perspective it's the best in the biz. Feels dirty selling something this smart for some shitcoin with a twitter account and an erc20 token.

From a technicals standpoint, there is no explanation. Literally none. Monero is the best fulfillment of what an actual currency should be. So that means technicals don't mean a whole lot.

Or it could be that the asic miners mined a bunch of xmr before randomx, feds also hold a lot from asset forfeitures and could be mining it as well to control hashpower and search for exploits, combine that with the lack of moonboy/normalfaggot interest and you have a perfect recipe for price suppression.

Why didn't you put at least a few thousand into interesting small market cap projects? If you had held a separate defi/erc20 trash portfolio you wouldn't be this resentful today, and you would probably have had more money. Hindsight 20/20 and all but still.

Monero is a 2014 PoW coin. It's not very glamorous compared to new projects. I think it's reasonable to treat it as a swiss bank vault that will inevitably grow in value on a medium long time scale.

I hope you dump your entire stack because it'll mean cheaper xmr for me but if I were you I'd maybe at most sell 10 of them and seal the rest away. Then I would start preparing for the 2021 bullrun. Yeah it needs a major catalyst to get attention. Right now the sentiment is very negative which can contribute to a negative feedback loop and discourages newcomers who see other stuff going up 40% per day.

You could diversify a bit to btc and some moonshot shitcoins. 65k is still enough that you can make big gains during this altcoin season. Trimming your position might help get the emotional aspect out of it.

rich people were never going to adopt monero. they have holding companies, the art world, anyone who's worth 8 figures and doesn't want to pay taxes doesn't pay taxes
normies were never going to adopt monero either, the entire xmr ecosystem is actively hostile towards making things user-friendly
the project's figurehead is a 400-pound guy who flaunts his wealth like a rapper
last but not least, xmr's value proposition is intrinsically flawed. you do not hide your crime money on a protocol that's only useful for crime money. you hide your crime money in the middle of legitimate entreprises. same principle as the real world!

I’m also a little disappointed in monero but it’s one of the only coins I actually believe in and feel safe holding my money in. It appeals to me the same way that Bitcoin originally did. I despise the government and I love freedom. Monero aligns with freedom the most so I’m sticking with it. Fuck mooning, I just want to hold monero and not look at charts.

It's the best in terms of anonymity.
Monero 2021 has not that much to do with Monero from 2014. There have been several hard forks that made it very different.
What it lacks currently is interwovenness with Defi chains and ways that reduce supply by locking people's coins in some stuff.

This take overlooks that the current methods of laundering money, hiding money and evading taxes are all less cost effective and riskier than Monero. Investigating good methods for hiding money, hiring people do it, building enterprises for it are all resource consuming compared to simply buying a coin and being 100% protected.

>Why XMR and not something like ETH?
ETH has reached its relative zenith the past weeks and the preparation for the succession war with Polkadot, Cardano, and others is in full swing. Sure, one could hedge in all the potential successor coins (this is why all of them are all up) but that would still leave those who won't make it slowly bleeding out.

Also, many of these new coins that reduce their supply by staking and locking their tokens up in various ways are doing so on borrowed time. In the short term that works very well particularly with new money flowing in. Plebs think they get free infinite lunch but in the long term they will see that it's just hidden inflation and will weigh heavy on price. Most new Defi stuff is good and innovative, but in the end, it's smart contracts on a chain and their governance tokens are unlikely to extract any big economic rents because of the brutal competition with other Defi projects.

Monero has none of these lock-up effects and the full supply circulating. This is why it might lack some of the dynamism but in the long run that will make it fare much better.

The economics of a bull market can mask many of the shortcomings that some projects have. What matters most in this special circumstance is access to attention and meming of the crowds' to create positive self-replicating price feedback loops.
