Why is this still less than 1/4th the marketcap of Bitcoin?

Crypto doesn't work like "oh more people want this, so it will be worth more". It depends on the currency supply. BTC is non inflationary, hard cap at 21 million coins.
Of course, there are problems with non inflationary coins too, and people don't seem to accept that, but that's a topic for another debate.

Anyway, ETH's success is short lived here. It shows there is a tremendous market for DeFi, but ETH has always had scalability issues and now they're showing. The entire network is crashing. Gas fees are through the roof. You're watching the demise of the network and it's dying because people want the product. Very ironic.

My suggestion is to go in on Cardano (ADA). That is what I did. They are a better tech than ETH, they don't have any of those problems.. Almost certainly people are going to want ETH alternatives in the coming weeks and months and years. Cardano has been mooning and I'm pretty sure the mooning has just begun. Plus they're adding support for smart contracts next month.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize you said marketcap. I thought you asked why the value wasn't as high as BTC. I'm pretty sleep deprived, plus just generally stupid. Sorry man.
Anyway the rest of my post is accurate as to why ETH sucks and will fail now.

Also any coin that is not blockchain agnostic will get fucked.
>>28311900
Wow, no need to get defensive. You asked a question and I tried to answer you.
Cardano has a lot of support for porting projects over to them, so it won't be too big a deal. Like I said above your best bet is to invest in blockchain agnostic projects right now, but even those that aren't will be able to transition in the longer term (though their price might crash in the shorter term).

Sorry man, if you're unironically defending ETH right now with everything happening then you're really behind the 8 ball.

Are people paid to post FUD that is literally being fixed right now with ETH 2.0?

>> No.28312502

>>28312134
I'm not paid to post FUD. I have made a bet in my personal portfolio against ETH by buying Cardano (ADA). Many other people are doing the same as Cardano's price is going through the roof and shows no signs of stopping presently.

ETH2.0 MIGHT fix some problems or it might not. Either way, it's rollout schedule is announced to take years and the Ethereum project has a well established, well known track record of being late and pushing dates back with endless delays.
Realistic people are not expecting 2.0 to be fully rolled out for another 5 years.
That is not FUD, that is just based on the history of the project. And even if it doesn't, it's still going to take years either way (because years is the time frame they announced and the calendar THEY put themselves on).

And after all of that, ETH 2.0 might suck even harder, make more problems and not fix a damn thing.

Whereas Cardano doesn't have any of the problems ETH does and was designed to fill in the missing pieces of the ETH platform, which if anything is more of a prototype technology for what DeFi can accomplish. It's a dry run.

They're sitting on a trillion dollar market cap but they fucked it up with wasting their time not rolling out ETH2 as soon as humanly possible.
DiFi is literally crashing the entire network and it won't exist if a bear market hits. I don't think they understand how close they are to losing it all if the DiFi move more to another network and the institutions start pumping billions into the blockchain.

Do you come from the stock world, or something?
Anytime someone says "the bubble" i think they must come from the stock world. You're not investing in a company. There's no ROI or earnings reports here. Well, there are depending on the project, but it's fundamentally different than when you're investing in a company.
It's currency. It's all "speculative". A currency is literally worth what people think it is. People are turning to crypto and DeFi because it's better than the old ways of doing business. This is a trend that's gonna continue. Sorry. No bubble.
People who say "muh bubble" are like the same sort of people in the 90s who said the interest was a passing fad that would go away after a few months.

Actually all I'll say about the crypto market crashing is that when Ethereum DOES finally come crumbling down it is going to make some waves. It is going to take a lot of coins out with it. It is going to cause more than just a tiny dip. BUT that is why I recommend you buy Cardano now, so when it happens you'll own the coin and platform that is undoubtably on it's way up.

If you're really opposed to Cardano, then my suggestion is buy blockchain agnostic coins. Check before you buy. "Is this blockchain agnostic?" "Yes?" "OK I can buy it then".

Otherwise, if the coin is tied to ETH then it's gonna get screwed. Cardano has made it easy to port projects to their platform from ETH, so in the long term they will be fine, but I can't imagine they're not gonna have a major price crash when ETH comes crashing down like the giant it is.

>> No.28314192

>>28312502
Either way it's smart to invest in coins that don't need ETH to survive.
