so you too can glow
no but seriously there's probably no crazy price-war boom coming, it's just finally uranium's time as a fuel. nuclear power is now 10-12% of the world's grid power. fuel rods are 3% or less of the cost of operating a plant. there is no scenario for not buying it; utilities are not stupid and won't be taken for a ride, but they also buy it, full stop. no exceptions. not buying enough is not an option, not contracting far out enough is not an option, when turned off reactors have to be put into a shutdown procedure over a lengthy duration compared to other generation stations.
solar, wind and magic liquid metal batteries are Not Gonna Fuckin' Make It. not only are we headed for a world population of 10 billion, the parts of the world that have been the poorest longest -- africa, khazaks -- have uranium, and the next highest retards on the totem pole -- china, india -- have 5 billion people and are growing and have already started building out plants.
uranium will begin to be competitive, the spot price will stay healthy for two decades, and everybody's mine will eventually get mined. but before that happens, these humble facts will coalesce into a bubble-story that will hit the mainstream in 2022, 2023. and we will profit early off of this.

absolutely not. in fact right now there is enough murmuring around that most things are already a little pricey. if you buy now, like i have, be prepared to eat shit for a full year. don't open a position you'll have to sell for objective reasons or even for emotional reasons.

for the americans/canadians, i think i prefer URG but i have not really stayed up on these businesses. the problem with this side of the world, for me, is not the sellers but the buyers. we simply don't care enough to pay higher prices for sustained durations. we both still get by great on coal. it doesn't seem to matter how much people bitch and whine about it. maybe we're just in a lull because of trump sidelining the paris accord, maybe biden or some other cabal of democrats goes balls deep in nuclear, but those are maybes.
meanwhile, china is building like 20 reactors. several come online every year. it takes three times as much uranium to perform a startup as it does to run the reactor for each subsequent year.
and there will be new demand in surprising places, i think, because of the proliferation of small-scale power plants. there are many many SMR designs, but just for instance nuscale: they have a system where they can create a "farm" of ten SMRs but administer them all from a single control room. it has the equivalent power output of three mile island, except the whole thing doesn't need to be shut off all at once, you can phase individual reactors in and out. you can build out the scale you need more slowly. these features will attract smaller countries into dipping their toe in the pool.

i shun bots by not putting the tickers in the OP but the names are there. in the US those are URA and URNM. there's surely others i'm not aware of.
note that you will have sizeable exposure to cameco and kazatomprom if you use either, so there is little sense in not understanding those two companies.
mining is a business full of fucking liars, and this one is so far out on the edge of normality that the effect is multiplied.
