It depends on the circumstances. Once the news breaks of the planned merger, it is still a few months/years before the deal is closed. If you already hold then it's good to sell on the news, if you buy on the news then you can hold for a while and expect a small profit.

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, I don't know what will happen with NOK and its options over the future, and I'm not an expert in stocks and options. That said, here are the two trades I made today.

[$4 C, 2/19] -- I payed $4.22/share and got a premium of $0.28/share, so a net profit of $0.06 per share. Assuming the calls get exercised (which is what I'm assuming will happen), I'll say the profit is $0.06 / $4.22, which is 1.4%. If I did that 25x in a year, that would be 35.5% profit. Not 50%, but not bad IMO.

[$4.5 C, 2/19] -- I payed $4.21/share and got a premium of $0.07/share. The share price could go down, but I'm not expecting a catastrophic loss so I'll ignore that. The premium is $0.07 / $4.21, or 1.66 % profit. If I did did that 25x in a year, that would be 41.6%. Not too bad IMO.

In order to get 50% in a year, you need to get about 1% a week. If you get an annual return of 42%, your money doubles in two years.

My general rule with mooning stocks is consider selling at 20% profit and always sell at 30% profit. Could it go ridiculously high? Sure. But it could more likely plummet and lose you a fuck tone of money. If you miss out on some money, dry your tears with the immense profit you already made.

Meme stocks are good for quick profits off money you can afford to lose. You should be making your major profits off safe, long term stock options.
