Genuinely the only decent store-of-value investment there is.
I'm trying to get into it but its seems stuck in the 1980s technologically so the learning curve is rather steep.

Specialized historical artifacts such as old worthless memorabilia from a different regime (only works in Europe) and niche art (paintings and sculpture).

i visit art sales at a local art college and buy some originals.

pure speculation that the artist might become famous and ill own one of their originals. win win because im happy with the purchases at face value. feels very chad indeed.

I'm way too autistic for that. I like crypto because it's numbers. Art is just some shit someone smeared on a canvas, why would anyone pay more than like $1000 for that. I get hentai commisions because sometimes you need something drawn that doesn't exist yet. But how the hell can shit sell for hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars? Who the hell are these people

>> No.28134912

They're a decent store of value, but I wouldn't go the art route (or wine/whiskey/watches/jewelry/etc) if my goal it to make more money. It's a hedge.

See art is good because the obscenely wealthy always have obscene wealth.

Buy good art instead of this con shit. Buy from artists like jeff watts, richard schmid, erik gist, nick alm, morgan weistling, the list is endless. Its a real tragedy art is so heavily related to the likes of picasso, pollock, warhole and others who are just looking to make a quick buck from stupid richards.

the contemporary art market is horrible with little exception. but there are a few artists which would make good long-term investments that you could buy out of galleries right now. Dana Schutz will be worth million in our lifetime and you can pick up her paintings for under 100k right now. art advisors are not worth the price but looking at market trends and which artist move to what galleries will give you an idea of the future value of the work.

Just pump the price. Remember: Art is worthless and only used to launder money. Or do you really think a Picasso is worth hundreds of millions?

Most modern art is garbage but that doesnt mean art as a whole is worthless. There are many beautiful and inspiring paintings that required the skill of a master to complete, and those qualities make it hard to quantify in wealth.

Im Considering opening a small gallery if I ever make it

There was an anon here maybe a year back who worked for some rich old guy gallery owner and knew the whole industry, frequenting chrities & sothebys auctions.

Any tips are welcome, that anon had some interesting insights, wosh I would of capped.
