the protocols built on top of it have better value capture and lower marketcaps, see AAVE, SNX, link doesn't accrue any fees at the moment, it's a token that just kinda exists and sergey sends it to node ops to pay their massive L1 gas fees

sergey said it himself it shouldnt be this high of a price. the network works better when the price is lower. thats why they made it so you can break the token down into 18 decimals.
