Because the underlying theory and mechanism actually was sound, i.e. drive up the price on a massively shorted stock and force the shorts to flood the market the buys to cover their naked call.

The problem was people mistook the high volume in the week running up to the settlement date as all retail investors when they should've seen that 750 million shares trading- at a total market cap of roughly $200b- wasn't a few million dudebros on reddit and assorted retail FOMOs. It was the shorts covering their positions throughout the week so that there would be no squeeze on Monday.

You guys are both right. It was a bubble that was going to burst at some point, but robinhood forced it to burst early.
Anyone who bought at $300 probably would have been able to double their money before the stock finally burst.

If you planned on holding forever with your diamond hands (whatever the fuck that is) then you screwed yourself.

Depression. I wanted to punish myself. Teach myself a lesson. My girlfriend dumped me last year. But I was still holding on to hope that she would come back to me. GameStop was a repeat of that same feeling. Now I know better man. Life is not easy. I want to live a good life. I want to learn how to love others. I hope I will be able to make someone smile one day.

I think I will be ok. God has granted me so many beautiful things. But many people have got it much worse. I read in that other thread that one guy in FL bit the bullet. Feels sad even though I am numb. I hope there is something to be gained from all this loss. I hope people can grow to love one another. I hope the world will be a better place tomorrow, even though I contributed fuck all to it. I just gambled some money. Impotence is a strange feeling. Take care of yourselves anons. There was a bubble within the last week's price action, yes but the bubble was caused by retards, the kind who fomo into doge, getting in and expecting instant riches
The short squeeze has yet to happen as the trading volume has been fairly low after last week and the major shorts have yet to close their positions
Because the price is low, short interest is lower, so those who were shorting it feel less immediate pressure to cover
But they still have to actually close their positions, which will require them to get through anyone who is still holding
Which is probably enough to keep them from being able to close, as it was before the media got wind of the short, but now there are 9 million people on WSB as opposed to ~2 million before

It was a smart gamble to get in. NO ONE thought all the hedge funds and their clearing houses would stop trading on 99% of platform for ONLY retail. Then they illegally traded back and forth for days and days for $-.001. Basically costing them nothing but driving the price down.
You can shit on these people all you want. But it WAS a good call had the SEC stepped in right away during those first hours. They didn't.
The dopes here are the people who bought in DAYS later after all that. Those are the real moron. I bought in at $50 then $200. Made a little cash. But I was planning on selling at $600+. But only absolute RETARDS are still stocking thousands into it before it has hit rock bottom.

There are speculative bubbles on top of bitcoin's average growth, yes.
GME is a speculative bubble on top of a retailer having a rough time.

They always look the same because they're always about human behavior, not the underlying value. It's just not about the shapes.

It was a squeeze, there was massive buy pressure released by hedges closing their colossal shorts.
It's a fact that they had to close at least 3 big tranches, the price didn't spike for the people buying in, and (you can see it on the chart) the massive spikes occurred in the after market.

Of course it was retarded thinking that they would not just open new shorts right after, and that another big squeeze was about to happen.

Batteries are shit and require lithium which is one of the most scarce resources

Self-driving tech can be replicated with of the shelf parts and some programming skills in a garage at this point, but it'll never be perfect enough for the masses

And even if that was the advantage, Tesla doesn't even make the batteries but Japs like Panasonic do. There's nothing that makes them worth more than all other car companies in the world. Everyone knows the game is rigged, but no one knew they would be this blatant about it. I know I was FOMOing hard like everyone else here before they shut everything down Thursday. AMC was looking very promising as an early get in until then.

It's just newfags who don't know what they're doing and invest reactively based on emotions and popular sentiment, rather than proactively based on research and smart risk taking.

Intelligent people know that they don't know what they're doing when they first get into investing, so they start with small amounts of money to learn the patterns then invest greater amounts once they're more confident in their abilities. But this is reditards we're talking about so they'll never learn.

I honestly doubt Elon gives a fuck if Tesla ever makes a dime.

He made the company so that his Mars colonies have vehicles that can work on a planet with no deposits of natural gas or oil. Basically all of the companies he's created or has a large stake in are making or developing something that will be important on Mars. Green technologies, AI, tunneling companies, rockets. I'm sure he's funding some asteroid mining startups on the side as well.

It was always going to end in tears, no doubt in my mind.

On Wednesday my broker's app crashed as soon as I put in a market order, I had no visibility that it went through until hours later.

On Thursday, they opened with restricted buying without any notice and the price crashed. I wanted out at this point, but I got emotional, and set a limit order at break even point.

On Friday, it didn't touch. I expected normies to talk about 'the revolution' to their friends over the weekend, and to migrate brokers. (Did this even fucking happen?)

On Monday, mainstream media started a coordinated Silver Blitzkrieg. (I was still emotional at this stage, not sure if this is true).

The rest is history, I now own a small piece of a brick & mortar video game chain store on a different continent...

Aside from silver, I don't forsee this kind of populist short squeeze working again. Now that they've seen the damage that can be done by a bunch of retards mortgaging their homes and pumping a worthless stock, they probably leave themselves a better exit strategy and curb their recklessness. Or just deepen their ties with the market makers and brokers to ensure that retail investors are always blocked out of the market before a squeeze can happen.

The silver market is, to say the least, wildly overshorted. But the fact that the big names in the silver house keep shorting ever more silver contracts tells me that either they're prepping for an absolutely apocalyptic crash and don't give a fuck about future consequences, or they hold literally ALL the cards and know that they can never be squeezed, no matter what.
