The housing market is a fucking racket.

WIth that said, you can join in on the fun, take out a loan for a house, fix it up, and sell it for $100k more. Pretty much what everyone else is doing, and is why houses are so expensive.

I have no idea who is actually paying for these houses, though. I'm guessing everyone is just taking mortgages and die or either forclose before they fully pay it off. The average income in the US is like $70k. No way can most people actually afford to live in these big ass houses.

most mobile home parks own the land, you just own the house that sits on top of the land and pay rent to the landlord lol. The rate is usually around what you would pay to live in a 1 bedroom give or take, except now that you also own the "house", and all the responsibilities that go with that

those things are pretty shoddy construction too, its basically a sheet metal exoskeleton with some partitions inside. Not very soundproof, you can hear cars drive past

The truth is even sadder.
Certain locations are being bought up by foreign investors.
Other areas are people trying to chase the trend and is speculators flipping houses to each other adding more ramshackle “upgrades” that make to places shittier to sane people and will break down in a year.
Then they trade the houses to each other at increasingly higher prices as they all go deeper in debt as their income that will collapse at the first hiccup goes up.
In a decade most of these places will have houses that will cost more to tear down than the land is worth.

Pull up a chart of the S&P and zoom out then take a gander at the price inflation since 1998. It basically looks like a penny stock in the 90s compared to today.

Hell 178k when trump took office is like 400k right now and they are about to double the money supply again.

That 500k house is gonna be worth a few million by the end of Biden’s first term.

If you don’t already own a home you will just get further priced out of the market the longer you wait.

I bought my house last year for 300k. Figured WTF this house should be 150k but it’s not and none of em are so whatever. It’s estimated value is now 500k.

Helicopter money is coming soon. Imagine what home prices are gonna be when they start giving people 7000$ per year per kid on top of 1000$+ per month per adult of UBI. Negros will be making the equivalent of six figures cause no tax on it just from their welfare. They are both proposals being seriously considered.

Ultimately, you really need to decide if you're looking to purchase property or just looking for somewhere to live in a particular place. >retards in this thread thinking boomers will pass on their houses
They will reverse mortgage them until they die, or their houses will be liquidated to cover massive end of life medical bills. Meanwhile demand surges as more immigrants come and as population expands through births. Construction can't keep pace with demand. There will be no housing crash. Buy when you can and buy smart.

The crash won't be in housing it's going to be in the currency. The money printers have inflated everything since 2008 at an increasing rate. This example seems particularly egregious, I suspect the house has been improved substantually since. However the markets and the fed printers are eerily similar in their increases. It's the illusion of growth that our institutions are built on.

I found out the other day that apparently my grandmother really really wants to reverse mortgage but hasn't because she wants me to inherit it. I'm conflicted because on the one hand it makes absolute financial sense for them to reverse mortgage it. The taxes are insane, they're in massive debt, they don't have the need nor the desire to own such a large place, and they're only like 70. DESU, I wouldn't even have much use for it. I don't live in that city (although I wouldn't be opposed to living there) and the house's layout is weird so you really only end up getting two bedrooms out of the place which is....not enough. There is a lot of land to work with for expansions but at that point it seems like it would defeat the cost savings of inheriting a house. That said I am also a selfish motherfucker that really wants that fucking house. I've decided if they ever ask me directly I'll tell them they can sell it but for now I'm just going to pretend I don't know that they want to sell. Does that make me a bad person? What would you do /biz/bros?
