Unless they completely revolutionize rocketry, a very well researched branch of science, the Starship will remain a completely insane and retarded idea.
Just listen to them. They want it to replace planes for long haul flights, but even their engineers openly say that it's going to have AT LEAST one failure per a hundred flights. Imagine if every plane out of a hundred crashed down in a fiery explosion killing everyone on board, because that's what a failure of a rocket most likely means. Nobody would go on the fucking thing, it'd be a death wish.
Then there's the completely absurd amount of propulsion you need to take something to the orbit. It'd not only be a suicide machine, but it'd also be an extremely expensive suicide machine. The amount of fuel a rocket has to guzzle is incomparable to just regular planes.
With the technology we have now, the entire project is just a pretty cool pipe dream.
