Do better research. XRP has always been shit, and XLM is normie shit without much potential. Research shitloads of projects, then step back for a few days out of the crypto bubble and think what will have real impact on the world.

Every single fucking community thinks their coin should be top 5 and is going to change the planet. Nearly none of them are right, so you can't get caught up in that shit. They are fucking delusional echo chambers designed to get you to blindly believe in their project. Look at biz, reddit, twitter, youtube, and legit crypto news (like theblock, decrypt, and coindesk). Use them all, but take each with a pinch of salt, because they are all full of shit, and have their own /our/ coins which are mostly shit, yet restrained to their own platforms.

Research how the tech works (consensus algorithms especially), so you know how to spot bullshit claims designed to fool tech illiterate idiots, and can spot the legitimately novel projects.

Don't buy into fomo unless it's caused by absolutely massive news out of left field and the pump is still relatively fresh, you'll most likely get dumped on. Don't buy high and sell low unless the project just got killed somehow. And if you only have a small amount of money to invest, don't pick anything in the top 15, there are much better opportunities further down.

>> No.27360822

Oh and smart lands is shit as well, so like I said do better research. Shit coins can get you somewhere, but it better at least be a coin with a decent following... the hype for SLT died down like 2 years ago.

time in market>timing the market. Stop having paper hands. What the actual fuck is wrong with you? You're literally the /biz/ stereotype of buy high, sell low. Put money in to a coin, hold for x years then sell. Or you can buy a coin and set a price that you will sell at when it reaches that price and sell it when it does. Honestly just stop because I don't know what else I can tell you.

You should have sold when you made money. That still doesn't explain why you FOMO'd in to and panic sold out of several other coins after that like average /biz/ retard. You had it right the first time. Buy and hold. GRT just dipped to $0.75 buy and hodl until it reaches $10 and sell it. You lost a ton of money, consider it a very painful learning experience and move on.

I also made a shitload of mistakes since 2017 so I know what it's like. Luckily I'm further ahead than you, but I could have been so much further along. There's only one project now which *I know* is going to make me rich, and it's barely mentioned here at all. I'm still accumulating, but I'll give you a hint... it had it's ICO last year. Other than that, I think you can't go wrong with most of the blue chip defi projects (aave, snx, uni, sushi), avax is a wild card, could be massive

>>27362798
True.
People around me were telling me to sell when I was up 1k. Didn't listen, was up 50k, thought I needed to trust my guts. Lost confidence went impatient and fucked up what I had right the first time.
Anyways thanks anons I needed this off my chest.

Just look hard for it. It's not a defi coin. I also wouldn't recommend blindly going into it without understanding the token distribution, because there could be an upset when tokens start unlocking. For me the risk is worth it though

Things like what happened with XRP and the SEC are hard to predict. My rule is once I make a significant amount of money (high 5 figures cuz I'm a poor) I'm pulling some cash out for myself just in case and diversifying my investments. I've panic sold once too (still made money luckily) just to watch it bounce back a few days later and yes I was seething. I don't panic sell anymore but it still makes me nervous sometimes. I've made some other dumb investing mistakes too but I learned what I did wrong and I think it's made me a better investor. If there are any tried and true rules to making money on crypto it is time in the market is better than timing the market. It's hard to go wrong with buy and hold but it's easy to fuck up swing trading. Don't worry anon, you'll make it someday as long as you don't let this bump in the road hold you back.

Also one other thing. Diversify out of more than 2 or 3 coins. 4-8 is a good number, with the goal of bringing that down as the bull run builds up. Soon coins will start popping off one at a time, that's when you want to take profit at the top (only if 10xed or more) and move it over into one of your other coins that hasn't moved. Keep doing that and as the bull run nears the top, consolidate into btc and eth gradually. Ideally you want to sell everything at the top, but the next best thing is being in btc and eth to protect against the worst of the dumps that can happen.

You need to invest in a handful of projects you believe in and hodl. That's literally it. You will not trade your way into wealth in crypto. It's far too unstable and you don't have enough money to eat your losses. You don't have the resources available to you to swing trade. The only time you sell a coin is when you're ready to cash out. You buy into a project with fiat. Just fucking accumulate and hodl. Once something is out of your price range find another project. If you have a relative time frame any less than 5 years you re doing this wrong. Fuck the guaranteed replies they are nocoin/poor. Just hodl.
