Yes it's something you'd want to do for as long a term as possible.
Ideally there would be a pretty even growth ratio between the assets but Bao has risen in price much more than ETH has so most pools lean towards ETH right now and they have a "loss." The harvesting gains should help to offset this, but with Bao's growth, it may not have depending on how long you've been in the pool.

holding = worse long-term (at least a month+), better short-term
IL = your gains/losses are essentially averaged between the two. So you will be less impacted by the losses of one coin, but less impacted by the gains as well. It's not linear.
