These are all the institutional longs in GME. With that out of the way, and the fact that it isn't reddit basedbros that are pushing the price, what can we expect on Monday?

Index fund providers (vanguard, blackrock, Schwab, fidelity, etc) are REQUIRED to buy shares of a stock of that stock is part of a certain index. DO NOT interpret institutional 401k/IRA holdings as actively managed interest.

This could also represent individual clients purchasing GME at these firms. Everything is registered street name, so it looks like these firms "own" it, only because it makes the back-office accounting easier.

good point, but some of them substantially increased their stake in the company. wouldn't the numbers be lower if it was just people investing in index funds

Depends on the fund. Some of them could be weighted differently. And if clients at those firms (you me and everyone on biz) are buying, it makes it looks like these firms' holdings are increasing, but that's only because when you buy it at one of these firms it's technically held in their name (street name).

A better indicator would be daily changes in GME holdings held in mutual funds that are actively managed, less and retail holding changes at said firm.

they don't benefit from lying about it. for you to believe this, would presuppose that you all know that the price of GME will crash again soon, so that they can unwind their shorts for less than the $90/share at which they claimed they did so.
how many of you believe they're lying and have a per-share cost basis below $90?
i have additional bad news: if you "buy the dip," then it's too late to "win" your ideological fight against the boogeymen. "the dip" is when the short-sellers close their new, higher positions. read up on laddering.

yeah but the recent price action is so hot that that means they'll all sell GME. it doesn't meet the parameters for remaining in their indexes. why should they wait the next ten years for the gamestop operation itself to earn money, and then appreciate? they can bring forward all of it right now without being exposed to the business model for a decade, but get the ROI as if they had, instantly.

therefore, it's important to know how big those positions are now. you all have to buy to make up for it so that it doesn't even dip. otherwise, short sellers win on all their new positions at the new higher prices.

>SEC filings report that NBIM had 1,811,792 shares of GameStop (ticker: GME) at December 31, 2019. The year-end price close was US$ 5.90 per share. If Norway’s SWF, did not sell shares of GameStop in 2020 and held it recently, the recent close of GME was US$ 325 per share. Based on the available data, Norway SWF’s position in GameStop was worth US$ 10,689,572.80 at the end of 2019 and the latest close, it is worth US$ 588,832,400.
