im on the fence myself on crypto.
seems interesting from everything ive heard about it and had people talk about it, but then looking at the actual process and it just feels... wrong?
I dont like stocks, to get that out of the way. the idea of them, how they work, alot of it just doesn't sit well with me.
and when it comes to crypto... i hear all these things about what its supposed to represent, what its supposed to be, how its supposed to work.
but then i look at how you actually work with it... and it just looks like stocks basically.
you have to get a wallet thats just going to skim money off you every transaction, and all you're doing to trying to game the coins highs and lows for profits.
it get it, its not the same, i see the differences and some of the potential uses compared to stocks.
but i dunno man. a supposed decentralized currency made to give you more control and remove some of the risk, yet you're having to go through a third party still in order to buy and sell it? moreso, what i really dont get is some wallet services store your coins for you. as if someone else having any control over whether you can use your coins isnt bad enough, i REALLY dont get that one.
mind, not all seem to do that, but still, its more the idea im struggling to see it live up to what people say about it.

personally, only reason im even slightly interested is because what i want takes a bit of capitol sadly. unlike many though i dont like the idea of just doing nothing for what i have though.
I have chickens, hand built their fence and coops. planning to get into farming some of my own food. know how to weld as my skill.
nothing against anyone not into any of that mind, its just my mindset. things i can physically do or work with just feels more rewarding. its there, its in my hands, i can see it. its not that i dont understand the intangible ideas, ironically most of my hobbies otherwise involve highly intangible and nonexistant pieces and concepts, but those are things i do for fun.

and yeah, sadly i get it about physical money disappearing. theres other routes life could go, though only to some degrees, but being prepared for both is a good thing to hedge bets on. what i dont see is any current coin being the new standard of a nation. sure, blockchain and crypto will most likely be used eventually, i just cant see them not making their own coin, no matter how much you scream the government doing it defeats the point, it just makes no sense that a sovereign nation would not try to have their own input into that.
mind, that doesn't mean other cryptos will lose their worth, moreso i cant see them not staying as basically a money storage system and way to avoid a 'main currency' crash. they're also super useful i've herd fr cross currency payments.

my biggest hurdle still though i think is the premiums for doing trading. the idea of getting my livelihood skimmed just for trying to do things with it pisses me off honestly. godamned taxes are bad enough.

it feels like if i am to do this, best bet is to just put some into bitcoin as a more stable investment, and if anything only chump bits into some other coins that seem stable.
even if you are smart enough to game more volatile coins for good profits, you're still making that profit for the sake of getting dollars and/or to fold into more stable coins.
