All my big returns have been from things I've researched myself and that I knew would have a good chance of increasing either because of government policies under Trump or because they had clinical trials that were going well and might get FDA approval.
My largest returns were:
>Sea Drill. 2018. ~64% ROI very quickly and sold right at the start of the crash.
>Amarin. 2019. ~25% ROI very quickly and sold right before the crash
I say all this not to brag or anything, but to just let you know it's possible for you to do this too. You just have to carefully research and be aware of what's going on to effect industries. Like for example, oil wouldn't be good to have right now

Conversely tho. If you're in good companies that you believe have fundamental reasons for increasing, then you should just hold them for a few years.
All my other returns come from good companies that I'd hold until I was 18-30% up and sold if I felt the company was being over purchased/growing too quickly without a correction. Then I would buy back in 4% or 5% from where I sold. If it dipped a little and rose back up, sometimes I'd buy back or sometimes I'd wait and see if the price will drop back down. It's all really contextual
But in hindsight, just holding everything I was in would've given me much larger returns than trying to time the market (unless it was those research stocks I bought and shilled here).

Currently thinking about putting money into Poshmark, which I talk about here >>26488021. Like I say in the post, I'm fairly sure that if you buy it even at its current price and wait two years, you'll nearly double your money. It might crash down some point in between, but from what I hear, influencers use it and it has a normie user base. Looks very promising.
