There is nothing magical about Rolex. It is simply an overpriced mass produced watch. The quality has declined in recent years as well.

The only nice thing is that they will service your watch regardless of age meaning you can keep an old watch alive indefinitely. That is not exclusive for Rolex anyways, though.

I bought an Omega speedmaster for this reason.
It's cool kind of like the daytona, but I don't have to worry about scratching it.
Also the Omega dealer was really friendly and said I can get whatever from the catalog, while Rolex AD was a dickhead and said get in line.

Having said that, my father owns a Rolex Sub, and it’s value increased from when he bought it at 3000 to 11000. I don’t think you should buy a watch as an investment. Having said that, if you want a watch for style, Tudor is your brand. Rolex subsidiary, except they are just bigger watches. Also, I think a good few of them are better lookin than some of the ones on Rolex’s catalogue.

Don't bet on capital gains with watches but Rolexes do hold their value really well. They have a secondary market that is unparalleled.

What you should do is buy one, make sure you are insured against e.g. theft, then enjoy it.

Every couple of years, trade it in for something else.

It's also like a club, when you meet someone else with a Rolex you can talk about it.
