Is there any cryptocurrency less wasteful?

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/after-recent-price-spike-the-energy-to-produce-bitcoin-could-power-a-country-of-more-than-200-million-people-11609244670

Bitcoin maxis are literally killing the planet.

"Two-thirds of bitcoin production is done out of China. More than half of China’s energy output comes from coal, so the bitcoin production is likely to be particularly dirty. "

So is Microsoft, Google, Amazon and the NSA. Hospitals as well. Let's shut all of those entities down.

yeah, our society is unsustainable and is collapsing slowly, but a shift to renewables, zero emissions, less pollution will never happen. we are too comfy in our wage cages. BTC is at least a revolt, financially speaking, against the fucked system.

Literally every bitcoin farm is near a hydroplant because the power is cheaper.

Problem is bankers and big tech own more coins than everyone. Your revolution died when all of them bought the entire market from onwards of 2015

at least pajeet and sanjay can invest from the comfort of their village and be a part of the new decentralised global financial system, rather than being locked out by virtue of their location.

>> No.26242584

the way things are now, the system is completely manipulated by powerful bad actors who control the regulations and laws and use it to enrich themselves. if everything is decentralised then at least the playing field becomes somewhat even. the rich will always be able to get richer, but at least crypto will remove some of the more abhorrent inequality and thievery from the poor by the rich.

Sounds pretty janky
and controversial
but
CODEX
is a coin that represents a planted tree.
i.e. carbon offsets.

If cap and trade go through, and people fight for codex.
sounds like major polluters would have to buy these tokens.

Kinda fucked up though when we make bag holders inflate the price of a tree so much that 20 million tons of carbon is offset by buyingtwo trees.
Can you imagine the price of a 2x4 or a ream of paper then?

It will happen when it is forced to because areas of the planet will be uninhabitable. If you think southeast Asia is gross now, imagine what subsaharan Africa will be like in 50 years with just as many people and 30% lower IQ in a desert.

Isn't the entire legacy banking system still like 100x more wasteful? It's something like that.
