I literally can't get addicted to nicotine. I've tried in every form available.

Used to chain smoke cigs at the bar in college, quit cold turkey with no effects. An old roommate let me chain vape his vapebox for 6 months straight, no issue quitting when I moved out. I worked in a factory one summer and one of my coworkers had me doing snuff. Very gross but once again, no issue. I'm the same with alcohol.

Now weed, different story.

In the middle of quitting myself. First you must break the oral fixation. You’re afflicted to nicotine but you’re also addicted to the ritual. Get Nicorette lozenges they are great. Breaking the ritual first will make it far easier. Psychologically you need to figure out why you like to smoke so often and this I can’t help you with. But just set goals get down to 1 pack a day, then half a pack, and etc

This is the most rerarded method of trying to quit. You don’t quit a substance by substituting the method of intake.

Just cold turkey. Any kind of weaning off will just create the impression in your head that cigarettes are some type of reward that you’re giving up.

Cold turkey is the only way

You can quit very easily by killing yourself. For example, shoot yourself in the face with a gun, jump in front of a fast moving train, jump from a very tall building, stab yourself to death, or go out into a forest near a lake and put several durable plastic bags around your face and tape them tight with tape around your neck, many layers of tape, then throw the tape into the lake, then run around panicking idiotically trying to get air and failing miserably to tear the plastic bags apart until you suffocate.

Former pack of more a day for ten years here. 6 years without a relapse after the first month. You have to actually want to quit, not just be claiming you want to quit. As degenerate as vaping looks and feels, it works
Don't go for the faggy big vapes that's for teenagers and fuckbois who never smoked cigarettes anyway and want to 'MAKE DEM CLOUDS SENPAI'
Get something small like an AEGIS and smoke salt nic, after a while even if you try to smoke socially because you're drinking or something you'll notice the added chemicals in cigarettes give you an immediate headache and make you want to vomit
Sometimes you'll lose your vape and at first you'll panic til you find it, but after a while you'll notice how much easier it is to go for long bouts of time without it as opposed to losing your pack of cigarettes and immediately just deciding to go buy another pack
Helped me and I've tried everything including rolling my own, replacing tobacco use with weed, cold turkey (which sadly I pulled off for 6 months straight when I was younger and picked it up because I was wagecucking at a place that didn't give anyone breaks besides smokers and snapped on a shift the day a close friend died and started chainsmoking again), and nicotine patches
Vaping helps and is more cost effective
You'll smell better, breathe better, and your teeth will get whiter
Long term effects are of concern, but you should go into it with the mindset of weening yourself off nicotine to get healthier and know you're going to be better off, retards who didn't have a nicotine habit to begin with are why it's seen as a douchey trendy thing to do
Do it for yourself

Yes I quit 9 months ago and here is my advice.

1) Don't tell yourself you're going to quit in the future. You'll only stop smoking if you realise you have already smoked your last cigarette. It doesn't work if you are going to have 'one last cigarette' or starting tomorrow. Your last cigarette is in the past and should be fairly uneventful.

2) never touch another cigarette, even 'socially'.

3) Have an epiphany as to why you have quit. You must undergo a metamorphosis to change your behavior. You'll have to internalise that reason and that reason will have to be extremely logical to withstand the temptation. For me it was that I was short of breath and my fitness was noticably weak and I didn't want to feel like that at 29. The only way was downhill if I kept smoking. Also I hated smelling of cigarettes all the time and could tell the smell was unattractive.

4) I couldn't have quit without a vape. I think they're faggy but they contain nicotine and it was simple to use the vape every time I wanted a cigarette and it satisfied the craving. always go outside to vape so it mimics a cigarette behaviourally. have 'smoke breaks'.

5) ween yourself off the nicotine sooner rather than later. In a week you'll feel proud, in a month you'll feel healthier and at around the 2 month mark you can start cutting down the nicotine.

Good luck anon. I have typed all this out for you because I hope it will help - I remember being in your shoes and worrying I'd be addicted for life but that was just a bad attitude. Time to grow up. Anyone HODLing innately understands how prioritising their future, so apply the same mentality to your health.

My path to quitting from smoking a pack a day was

1) try nicotine gum, patches -> Fail
2) Start vaping on stronger nicotine than I was smoking. I made it as painless for myself as possible whilst switch. Even though you are getting more nicotine vaping there are still some withdrawals. Vaping is way better than smoking in every way (its almost free after paying for the vape, liquid works out to be about 1$ per day).
3) After 2 years of vaping I started reducing my nicotine levels. Took about 1yr to go from 20mg to nothing.

I quit a little over two years ago on new years.
Id say the biggest thing that helped me quit... try somehow to organize a full week off work. You need those no stress no responsibility days to get thru the initial cravings. If you have access, a sauna will help the withdrawals and help you sweat out toxins. Wet your finger, dip it in table salt, and suck on it. The salt helps kill cravings. I used a stop smoking app to great success. It tracks money saved, cigs not smoked, health improvements etc. I did and still do smoke weed. Idk if that would help or hurt you or anyone else, but just having SOMETHING to inhale helped me. Dont do any vaping, nicotine therapy, or cutting back horseshit. Doesnt fucking work. And once you DO quit. Mentally prepare yourself to never smoke again, because ONE puff is all it takes. You may think you can handle it but you cant. One puff. And then before you know it you bummed a whole cig. Then you have a pack for emergencies. Then you are a full blown smoker again. You cant go back. I relapsed so many times, including another 2 year long quit i had. Oh thats another thing, you will only quit if you really want to quit. I really wanted to quit. Its hard af. But now, two years in, i barely think about it. I dont get triggered seeing it, i think it stinks really badly. Its like, wow, i used to smell like that 24/7? Try reading the stop smoking book. I cant remember the name but its highly recommended for people trying to quit and its available for free online.
Good luck OP

Run until you can't breathe or stand up, it will help with insomnia withdrawal, and also it will make your lungs sore so smoking will hurt, and will make your body not like smoking because running will be very difficult if you do. Run everyday at least 1 hour, make it a good run, and you won't smoke anymore.

I started smoking heavy about 2 years ago when I was 26. It began casually with my girlfriend, but soon turned into a habit where I would smoke a pack a day, consistently for months.

I tried to quit a few times and would go a few months without it. I am now on my second month no cigs.

Let me tell you this anons. The desire to want a cig never goes away. But if you can rationalize and give yourself a real reason not to smoke, you can probably quit, so long as you NEVER even have one puff of a stinky cig.

My reasoning is I want to get back into bodybuilding and have a good build like I did in my early 20s. I know cigs won't help, and also, it's pretty bad ass of me to tell people I was addicted to cigs for 2 years then quit cold turkey and never looked back. Gives you a sense of power to know you're in control and not some bitch to big tobacco

weened myself off nicotine. Started vaping and slowly reducing the nicotine content by diluting with nicotine free vape until i was only smoking 0 nicotine vape. Did that for a couple weeks as a lot of the habit is the physical habit of wanting to smoke. did that to get over the nicotine addiction then switched to chewing regular gum whenever i wanted a ciggy. As an interim, switch to a vape. Most of the really bad health effects of smoking (like cancer and asthma and COPD) are caused by inhaling all the garbage combustion products from burning leaves and paper, not from just the nicotine.

Vaping will keep your addiction placated without pumping benzene, cyanide compounds, "tar", and other crap into your lungs. If you later want to taper off the nicotine, vaping will let you control the amount precisely and eventually you'll be able to quit, maybe.

Just don't use THC vapes. They have to dissolve the THC in an oil base, which is why people were dying from vaping it -- the Chinese were shipping it dissolved in some sort of vitamin E derivative which caused lung damage. Nicotine is water-soluble and doesn't have that problem.

Try to keep the amount of PEG down, too. The only thing the dumbfucks add that into the mix for is to create those huge billowing clouds of "smoke", which look retarded. It doesn't seem to cause lung damage (and it's commonly used in transdermal medicines, so it's not going to kill you), but there's no point in giving it a chance.

Oh, and I'd also suggest NOT getting into the stupid "vape modding" stuff. The reports you see of vapes exploding is because morons directly short the Li-ion batteries to generate maximum power. Just use a normal one with a circuit to limit power, and your battery won't detonate like a Tesla.
