I came here right after the 2016 election and have come to the same conclusion, /pol/ for example is an absolute cesspool of misinformation and ragebait, there's nothing of value there. It was fun during last election but has outlived it's usefulness.

Try the ableton live demo and install a good synth plugin. There are some nice open source ones, I'd recommend buying on though. You'll also need a usb keyboard, a umini one will do. If you enjoy that, then you can branch and buy a Rea synth. If you're interested in modular, check out VCV rack, it's free and very good
