Has anyone heard of a collection company called Webster Account Solutions? Some guy calling himself Colin Moore has been calling me from a blocked number, saying he's a legal courier. He wants to serve me legal papers pertaining to a debt he claims I owe.

I called the number he left (an eight five five number) and asked for a written copy of the account, which I was denied. They did say they could email me, but I didn't give them my address.

I'm a bit at sea here, /biz/. I'm pretty sure these assholes aren't above board, but I don't know enough to get them off my ass. Help?

Ignore him and avoid him. Hopefully it blows over. You can't possibly stand to gain from being served in this case.

I worked for a collection company for a little while. Do you know what the debt is from?

The reason they're so secretive is because they want you to go through them because they keep a percentage of what they collect for the one you owe.

Just don't get upset with them. They try to bully and scare you but stay calm and ask what the debt is from, and if you can have proof so you know it's not a scam.

That's the thing, though--it smells like a scam. I've done a bit of digging and the only real information on this company is in the form of people posting about the harassing calls they've received. Googling the name reveals almost nothing, save for a skeletal website containing almost no information whatsoever.

That's how they work. They deal in secret. I remember looking up my company and seeing all the horrible reviews people gave to the collectors I knew, most of whom were really nice. They either put on an aggressive face or the job brings out a really mean side of them they don't get to exercise otherwise.

If they call you back ask for information. They usually threaten to fuck your credit report if you don't pay right away, contact your employer to garnish your wages, etc.

And always stay calm. You getting angry only gives them fuel to bully you more.

Bro you're not obligated to tell them shit. In fact, there are laws obligating the debt collector to be honest with you from the onset but until you've unequivocally proven he's legitimate you can actually lie your ass off to him. And theres really fuckall he can do about it.

Tell him you're dead. Be like "oh that was my roommate. He huffed feelium. I think he's buried in Akron."

Pic related.
Fuck with debt collectors and have fun.

> mfw that kid can't point to a single law that says a citizen has to divulge their true and full name to anyone who calls them on their personal home or mobile number

Yea, fuck em OP.
just dodge the bill.

Its a bill collector who hasn't sent you a bill. This is a no brainer.
