So I must admit. I'm at the point now where Im keeping track of so many mining companies I can't keep track anymore. I don't remember who is who, or who has what.

So, when silver sitfolio downgraded Kootenay silver and the stock dumped I freaked out. I was about to panic sell and I felt sick for the whole day. Anyway, I went back over their fundamentals and they really are a solid company. It looks like the reason GV dumped them was because they aren't likely going to become a mine this year, however they are on track to do it in 2022 or beyond. Overall it's still a solid company and I feel comfortable holding those shares. I wish they were on track to become a mine faster but oh well. My portfolio is a mixed bag. Here's some highlights of my DD. I'm sharing these because I'm sick of this fucking clownworld where you can look at something and know it's good, yet the world piles against you and tells you it's not. Us stacker are quite used to this, we know on a fundamentally level our economy is fucked and yet Lal of these analyst clowns and media clowns come out and tell us we are wrong.

Anwyays KOOTENAY Silver...

140 MILLION ounces MEASURED AND INDICATED.

Four properties in exploration and development with two other smaller side projects.

MASSIVE Massive deposits.

Sprott investment.

Beautiful Financials. Have 6 million dollars cash on hand.

Great drilling results on every hole. I use (can't remember his name but Darden?) analysis for drill results. Take g/PT and multiple by width. A score of 3000 = a great hole. Never invest in anything less than a 2000. Example, 200 gpt * 10m = 2000. A good hole. Kootenay has this on every drill.

To the anon asking about OTSO in the last thread:

Alright so I started by doing some digging around old news from our national news agency. Looks like the Otso Gold Mine in Raahe was in production for a while since 2011 and closed down shortly after operations began. Gold price was unfavorable at the time, crashed hard in 2013. In 2013 the company filed for debt restructuring. According to the company, the reason for this was because operating the mine had been unprofitable from the start. They stopped operating in 2014. In 2015, they would've needed about $12M to restart operations -- $7M for working capital, $3M for investing activities and $2M to stay solvent. Tough luck.
The company also had shortcomings in the environmental side. Much news about environmental concerns, there was an extensive investigation by Finnish authorities that ultimately resulted in no charges. Process water and tailings had leaked into the nature, causing short term damage. That's a major concern but they might've learned from their mistakes.

As a previously operating mine, they have everything needed onsite already. They have near-term historical proof that the mine can operate along expectations. For example they produced about 11koz Au in Q2 2013, although according to the company that wasn't enough as they were underperforming due to low gold grades. If they can target higher grades like you said then there shouldn't be any problems when it comes to onsite operations. Heck they may even get some of their old workers who know how to work there already.

I couldn't find their 2019 updated NI 43-101 MRE so I couldn't check the numbers and mine-related concerns like tailings sites etc. but going according to the presentation, they should have ~1.6Moz Au total, and NPV5 of $201M. Doing some valuation calculations, the company should be valued at only 0.058x the value of the operation. However, they're buried under a metric ton of debt (>$30M!) and they have some history as you can see.

This project is interesting. I won't go into more detail here but I'll have to get to the bottom of this by myself. There are major concerns regarding the company just based on their history and current financial situation but the mine is a big asset for such a small company. Gotta take a look at the management, their recent history, future plans, have to find those updated reports, etc. There is potential here but the lack of history on their current site after the name change, as well as the lack of overall transparency are what concern me. I'll probably have a deeper dive this weekend and see whether this is worth the risk.

This is interesting but a little disingenuous IMO, since people in the most populous developing countries have never had easy access to PMs and that that's unlikely to change especially in a global economic collapse. PMs simply won't be accessible to much of earth's population.
So the total shouldn't be all 7.8 billion people on earth, it should just be the current % of world pop that can feasibly acquire PMs right now. So like 1st and 2nd world countries only. So rather than how much silver to be in the top x% of all earth's population, it should be how much silver to be in the top x% of those who have access to and CAN get PMs... Not sure if that makes sense

What if aliens have their own supply of Bitcoin? We know the universe is infinite, and so there must be intelligent alien life out there who must have their own cryptocurrencies, and are mining their own supply of crypto; that which is far more advanced - more private, better speculations, better uses, better stores of value. Is "Asteroid mining" code for aliens mining crypto? Once we encounter aliens in the next few years, they will dump on us with alien crypto. Their supply of crypto is literally infinite. And this won't be Bitcoin 2.0, this will be Bitcoin 10.0 they dump us with. All our crypto would go to $0. Especially as Elon Musk takes us beyond the solar system in 2030.

Silver miner anon and PAN MAN, I would appreciate your thoughts on Tri Origin Exploration (TOE). 6m market cap gold explorer with four properties in Canada. Management seems "shareholder focused" according to multiple posters in CEO.CA chat. Seems their properties are massive (I calculated over 500 sq km total). I don't have a definitive idea of their deposits in the ground yet, but want to go ahead and share the company with PMG so people smarter than myself can perhaps ascertain that information.

"TOE is not a grassroots play. This is not 100% uncertainty and pure hope. For a stock with 1) a historic resource, 2) very good historic grades rivaling early results from companies like GBR and AMX who have exploded, 3) being on trend with Casa Berardi, 4) having management that is smart and is not willing to kill the company to stroke his own ego and 5) having mineralization throughout the properties, an $8.5 (now 6) million cap is pretty darn de-risked in my opinion."

Also all those little Brita-esque water filter cartridges that everyone using now? Those contain silver. And that’s a market that is going to be huge as it hits smaller markets with less access to good water.

The elephant in the room is solar panels and EVs. The average EV uses 3-4x the amount of silver that an ICE car does.

Alright so what I can gather from their flagship Sky Lake project is that it's positioned quite nicely: along strike to Thierry, Central Patricia, Pickle Crow and Dona Lake past producing mines. The gold should be hosted in BIFs considering the proximity to Dona Lake. They've already begun delineating the deposits very nicely. This is a very promising exploration play in the right place. Their other assets are also around Abitibi, which is ripe ground for exploration all around. Red Lake and Timmins are pretty close by. Very solid explorer on first glance, if Metals Creek's current drilling program at Dona Lake is successful, Tri Origin will likely benefit too due to the proximity. Management seems ok.

A decade ago after housing went bust there was a property for sale by owner along a regular route I took with a big sign stating the price in cash and also in ounces of gold. It started at 20 ounces for the house and few acres, and over time the seller crossed out and lowered it to 17 or 18 ounces before he sold it.

Basically you're a retard, in times of crisis Silver and Gold will be accepted by more than enough people for us stackers to do just fine. It's the buttcoin bagholders that you need to worry about.

Have some dry powder. If you have your currency working for you every day, it gets tired. However, making your currency be a neet is not good. Take some of the currency and make it rest for a time to work.
TLDR: have some currency to buy 5 5oz libertad on the side and get another temporary position asap. You need to get more of the kids to work for you to get more shinies.

Beginner level of look at what cycle it is in, and where it is in that cycle? Intermediate level of looking at company history, and how the owners are? Hard level of looking at each report, and send emails to them? Or Panman level of visit the site, ask questions, and look at the entire history of the property, and how they are?

l know Mike Maloney's 1:500 ratio is totally whack, but it's kind of hard to justify dropping $2k on an ounce of gold even though l already have roughly 150 ounces of silver.

Should l just get a gold British sovereign and contiune to stack silver?

Have you looked at the miner pastebin I wrote up about a month ago, in the OP? The links in that contain almost everything I used to begin learning. But I can walk you through my way of doing DD though, since it's rare for people to ask me how to learn. I appreciate the basic curiosity and effort anon -- most here just don't want to put in the effort for their own wealth.

I have like 200 companies I've wishlisted on ceo.ca, most of them I haven't looked at at all, they're just there as a backlog pile so that I never run out of new companies to look at. The very first thing I do is look at the NRs and the discussion. If either of these look promising or interesting, the company goes into the pile. Also if the company has projects near companies I'm aware of then into the pile you go. When I pick a company from the backlog, I first go to their site's presentation as well as their financial statement and skim those through. If I'm still interested after skimming through them, I do a proper DD by writing up a Word document. I separate the Word document into three parta: Share info (mcap, share ownership, P/B ratio, fully diluted amount, etc.), Financials (most importantly: working capital, equity, debt, other assets like shares from other companies and different ratios like current ratio and equity ratio) and finally their project protfolio.

When DD'ing projects there are some things you want to focus on. There's the area: is it greenfield (totally virginal ground with no exploration done) or brownfield (close to old or current mines) -- brownfields are usually less risky. What exploration has been done before: surface samples, trenching samples, BOT samples, diamond drilling...? How have the exploration results been -- you'll learn to read exploration results via the links in the pastebin as well as with experience but usually higher grades are coupled with short drilling intercepts, and low grades can be considered good if they have long intercepts.

I just dislike ETFs for various reasons. Gains are lower than if you do your work on a handful of good companies and also with individual stonks you can choose when to enter at lower price points and when to take profits if you so choose. Also you're able to sell quickly if something happens. But yeah in a bull market might not matter. It's just a preference thing I guess.

Perhaps the most important part about DD is being able to make valuation estimates. Just looking at a chart and market cap you won't know what the value of a mineral asset, and by extension a company is. Ignorance about the value of a company makes you anxious and yoj may begin doubting yourself after investing. The pastebin remedies this problem by having good links about robust mining valuation techniques. The main two you should use are P/NAV and EV/resource.

P/NAV -- Price to Net Asset Value -- is THE best mining valuation technique. With it you can see at what percentage to the mining asset the company trades at. It's easy to calculate when a company has released a PEA (Preliminary Economic Assessment) or FS (Feasibility Study). These reports will include a section with an estimated NPV (Net Present Value), usually with a 5-8% sensitivity in case of inaccuracy. NPV is always presented as pre-tax and after-tax, of which I use after-tax because it's more conservative. The NPV is usually coupled with different 'cases' of commodity prices. Usually the base case is a good conservative price point (for example US$1,500/oz gold price). So a company's NPV5% for a gold project, with a base case of US$1,500 could be for example $200M. That means that when gold is at US$1,500/oz the project's net value would be $200M, that's the amount that the company would get after the mine is closed.

The P/NAV calculation goes like this:
Market Cap / [NPV - debt]

So now that we know the most important valuation metric, let's punch in some nunbers and do an example.

Pan Man Placer Inc. Has a $50M market cap, and no debt. The company has just made a PEA, with a base case (US$1,650/oz) estimate of after-tax NPV8% of $185M. How is the company valued in relation to their project?

$50M / $185M = 0.27

The company is valued at 27% the value of their mining assets. Good deal if you ask me!

There are also different cases in these studies with different NPV's, very fun for bulls to use those for hard-on inducing calculations!

The other one I use the most is EV/Resource. Often there is no PEA or FS with an NPV estimate so you'll either have to rack your head and speculate that NPV (which is possible but way out of my realm atm) or just estimate the company's value in relation to the known ounces in the ground. So if a company has a MRE (Mineral Resource Estimate) available you can simply calculate the EV/resource.

Enterprise Value of Pan Man Placer Inc. is $45M ($50M - $5M [no debt + $5M cash])
Recent MRE has M&I ~1.5Moz AuEq (and Inferred ~0.5Moz AuEq)

$45M / 1.5Moz AuEq = $30/oz AuEq

The company is trading at $30 per ounce of gold in the ground. Keep in mind the "grade" of the resource (Inferred is very inaccurate, P&P Reserves are very likely there) as well as the fact that building a mine will cause capital costs and operational costs, meaning the $30/oz isn't exactly true.

I think most people on PMG would say the above amount of silver/gold is decent, unless you go into fractional gold (which I don’t due to premiums) it’s hard to get the GSR to line up with 250ozt of silver.

I might get more silver if we drop due to JPM bullshit, but I doubt we get that much lower, especially with DXY headed towards .80

For a long time I always thought my PM exposure would come solely from physical, never did fathom dabbling into the mining sector, outside of maybe Barrick, FM and etfs like GDXJ.

But here were are m, at the beginning of what is presumably another massive bull run for miners. It wouldn’t hurt for me and others to learn more about DD, and how to evolve your thesis based on new information and macro conditions.

Sometimes I listen to the Peter Schiff podcast while I make food or something, also the odd pm-related video. Oh and Sprott Weekly sometimes too. But that's about it for me

Lion One is a favorite of mine. DV I should look into again, I passed on it the last time I checked... Wasn't very good at DD yet

Copper is for sure going up along with many other metals. Copper is a no-brainer, there is a bullrun commencing there. Uranium is also a big one but might take a few years for that run to really commence. I still focus on precious metals first, base metals second. Uranium will come afterwards and then maybe REEs and lithium. But right now, gold and silver for me

If you don't hold it you don't own it. You can't physically invest in Uranium 235, you will always have to rely on a third party. Copper, silver, gold, etc. are all metals you can physically obtain as a civilian and that's why I don't take umbrage with miner stock anons as much, but the Uranium stock thing is just retarded. Plus who knows how long nuclear industry is gonna be around.

Very long. We can't possibly get enough energy anywhere else. Nuclear is here to stay unless fusion reactors are invented and turn out to be economically feasible

copper is only going to keep slowly climbing in value but its importance in the modern world cant be understated. We need a massive amount of copper to keep the world going but we also recycle a massive amount of it as well, which helps offset our need to input more metal.

Don't do this. Buy thick copper wire or pipe if you want to stack copper, not a fucking bar. As precious metals stackers you should be thinking about commodities too. Copper wires and pipe are commodities that hold their value very well in regards to inflation because they have to be used for modern construction developments.

Nvm I missed that, still a good opportunity to mention copper commodity stacking tho. Scrap yard hunting for wire and pipe as long as it's still usable is the best way to stack copper because it's low premium/used.
