Is 300k enough to retire in your 20's in Thailand or some other similarly developed nation?

probably not

If you plan on dying in 10 years as part of your retirement sure, if you mean living to old age and dying in a harem of ladyboys or whatever you'd go to Thailand for then obviously not.

Ok maybe retiring to old age with that money is a bit of a stretch but 300k in a country like Thailand should be enough to live very comfy for 10-20 years?

Osaka is great if you like dirty big cities like Chicago/Boston, folks are surprisingly down to earth there
Hiroshima is cool as shit but kind of like 1930's Boomtown Detroit during the day and modern day Concrete Jungle Detroit at night
Tokyo is great for visiting but hell on earth to stay in for more than a week, like visiting Vegas
Okinawa is a poor man's Hawaii without the darkies and unironically the best place in the nation

Don't listen to any of these cunts, OP. With 300k euros(+20% if $) you can live off 8% APY from real estate renting.
2300 euros is more than enough to live a nice life.
300 euros = poverty/survival, barely enough money to pay your food+utilities.
500 euros = Enough to live. Enough to live.
1000 euros = Enough to afford vacations OR something nice like a brand new PC every 5-6 months.
1500 = Finally living like a normal human being
2000 = Comfy mode. You can afford to trash 1500 euros a month on whatever the fuck you want.

Depends on what passive income you can get. I have no experience in Thailand but this surfing/villages in Peru I lived in, I could've bought a beach side condo for $20k and eat bonito tuna for $1.5/lb every day. Sweet potatoes super cheap as well and you can take a $1 bus to the nearest city with all the stores you need. Inflation is the big problem though as their currency is heavily tied to USD

Don't believe the tokyo fud, anywhere outside of there is dirt cheap. I paid $430/mo for a 1LDK in my prefecture's capital city, had enough cash on hand to go on 3 vacations in 3 months even as a brokefag. If your company knows you can't moonrune, they'll only be impressed if you study your ass off every day and learn more. I went in practically illiterate and made good friends that I still talk to now despite being back in the US, the language isn't as hard as you think, it just takes a shitload of time and rote memorization. Get a notebook and follow nama-sensei's lessons for a very small head start. Get to the real lessons after you've immersed yourself in the idea of JUST FUCKING WRITE IT DOWN.

300k at 3pc safe withdrawal rate is 9k a year, 750 a month.
It's doable in the third world for sure, but it won't be really comfy living, and you WILL have to budget.

I used to think the same way OP,
had a $200k inheritance and wanted to stretch it for years
eventually realized i was being lazy and short sighted

don't put the cash in a bank,
the interest rate will be far smaller than the spending power you lose
(inflation is a slow, silent killer, and much worse than most people realize)

instead of burning through that money in a decade or two,
the $300k should be invested well
you could reach single to double digit millions this decade

crypto is a great choice,
few people understand it, so the risk/reward is fantastic
(just don't gamble on random shitcoins, do the necessary reading)

mainstream investments are good too,
just expect it to take a lot longer

Yes. A safe withdrawal rate of 4% per year on is enough to live like a king in Cambodia. You don't have to retire forever anon, and in fact you'll probably want to make a change sooner than later.

Forget about Thailand.
Bangkok is now more expensive than most of EU countries. (if you dont want to live like a third worlder) and the visas are over. This means you need to go out of the country every 6 weeks (visa runs) its a fucking pain in the ass and if customs see too many entries they are going to rape you sooner or later.

Also you cannot have property without a local to sign all papers. Guess what, all of your property in the locals land is now HIS new property. Easy bankrupt in less than 5 years or killed in a matter of months. DO not go there fren
