Here only the maximum security Category A prisons are hell, the rest are like shit hotels where people just want to do their time in peace and get out.
The category D prisons you are allowed to freely walk out into the world for work or training.

I would rope on my first day if I ended up in a category A though, I would not suit full on prison in any way shape or form.

Most prisoners are pretty relaxed. As long as you keep your head down you can easily avoid trouble
The worst part by far is the boredom and the awful food
In florida we often saw marking on the food that said "not for human consumption" as in it was past expired food meant to be given to cows or used for compost.
Also if you are in a max security its 22 hours of lockdown a day which absolutely sucks the boredom is kind numbing
I'd recommend doing anything you can to avoid prison of course because it's a huge waste of time. But honestly most people in high security were pretty chill... Was white and had no problems. Usually the spanish and whites stick together because it's 90% blacks.
It's really just like college for convicts people network with other drug dealers, stick up crews, robbing check cashing stores, whatever you can think of.
