Playing through New Vegas again has got me thinking. What would people use to trade if there was ever some kind of nuclear apocalypse? It would have to be something physical and something abundant but limited enough. So this got me thinking, if there is going to be a global cross-border payment system, how would it work? You'd need an extremely large supply of whatever currency you decide on, because it will quite literally handle all the of the money in the world. It would also need to be fast, efficient, and extremely low fees.
