How do you deal with office politics? It looks like heading in to next year I will once again be rat fucked out of a promotion. My main competitors are basically friends with my boss and curry his favor even though I work harder, am responsible for the hardest issue area in my profession, and have seniority over them.

I can't become a fake person and shower praise and try to be friends with my boss just to get ahead-- it makes me feel inauthentic and physically ill.

Anyways, my fellow biz salarymen, how do I get ahead? Thanks for reading my blog.

Stop looking at it as you kissing your boss's ass and start viewing it as you outwitting your boss via deception to achieve power.

Promotions are a meme in today's modern workplace. Most promotions are in title only. If you do get a raise it will be very very small. They hold this over your head so you will be a good little wageslave.
The system is rigged now that you will make the biggest wage and title increases by hopping from company to company.

apply to similar jobs in the area and ask for more money than what you are making now

after around 2 or 3 years just start shopping around.
especially if your current duties match the next tier of whatever you do

Well that changes things.
Unless your black or a minority promotions are totally off the table for you.
Just milk that job and its sweet benefits for everything you can and get a good side hustle going.

Hire private detective. Blackmail anonymously.
They are probably pedos anyway.

>my coworkers demonstrated good interpersonal skills by befriending my boss
>my coworkers demonstrated excellent delegation competencies by convincing me to do a majority of our area's work
>my coworkers demonstrated good domain knowledge by ensuring that the most experienced and technical person (me) continues to work on the "hardest issue area"
it sounds to me like your coworkers have good managerial skills and they have every right to be fast-tracked for promotion

Tell them to fuck off, go research Glitch, then quit your job in anticipation and find ways to make money that don't involve someone else getting rich while you wait to get rich cuz you're early.
