I got scammed by the electricity company.

>install solar panels
>electricity invoices are on an annual basis
>however, company divides year into sections
>meaning the summer days don't fully offset the winter days

I've never even heard of this shit.

should have installed a coal-fired turbine lmao

Did you pay for the panels?

>> No.24509592

you should have known about winters and night time and cloudy days before you bought the panels
did you expect the company to store your summer surplus in expensive lithium batteries until you needed it?

>>24509529
They split up the year into parts, so it's not 100% summer vs winter.

At the point where they made the split, there are no more takesies-backsies.

So very simplified:

winter: 2 kwh in the red
summer: 3 kwh in the green

That means you're -1 kwh for the year right?
Well that -1 kwh is lost, they just "round it off" to zero.

Now imagine if they split up the year further, perfectly between winter and summer.
Your 2 kwh in the red remains due, and your 3 kwh in the green is rounded off to zero.
This is what they did.

>> No.24509615

>>24509592
That's not what's happening.

They cut the year into parts, so one part can't offset the other part.

It says in massive letters at the top of the contract "INVOICE FOR PERIOD BETWEEN NOVEMBER 1 2019 AND NOVEMBER 1 2020".

Them splitting that shit up is a scam.

Spotted your problem OP, this shit is on you. Solar for a house is a fucking meme unless you live in Phoenix, AZ. If you want to do it for the meme, just wait until the roof needs to be replaced and replace it with solar roof tiles from Tesla, at least they last longer than a normal roof, the electricity they generate is just a bonus.

You got meme'd. Solar had always been a massive scam. It's not better for the environment because of the manufacturing processes and it's way more expensive. The entire green energy movement of being pushed by green energy companies to sell you.

No you're an idiot who got scammed by an OBVIOUS scam. Saving 3% on your energy bill (which is subsidized to hell and back anyway) to pay off installation over 20 years is fucking retarded when crypto is making triple digit gains every year and even STOCKS are gaining 20-50% each year. Let this be a lesson to you going forward.

>> No.24510796

>>24510573
bruh, the panels on my roof are enough to completely nullify my usual electric bill.

I was paying about 7k in electricity alone, and with these panels I'll be paying exactly 0 four years from now, and everything will have paid for itself in about 8 years, and after that it's 100% free electricity for at the absolute very least 10 more years.

That's a 9% annual return on investment. That's pathetic compared to even stock gains, let alone crypto gains. Bad use of your money. Look, this is not debatable, you're an idiot and solar panels are an obvious scam. If you wanted to save money on electricity you'd have been much better off just getting your insulation fixed and installing double pane windows.

I know plenty of business owners who've had panels for longer, and they were obviously less sophisticated to begin with.

yeah that's the only way the electric company could have offset his winter costs, storing his summer surplus. There's nothing that an ELECTRIC COMPANY that SELLS ELECTRICITY could do with his summer ELECTRICITY SURPLUS other than just store it.
