true and i've thought about this myself, but when I actually play the game there's so much grinding to do outside of making gold that keeps it fun, I also mostly relegate my time to the minigames. I'm the guy that autistically dh's portals for 3 hours straight to impress noobs when I hit 80+ kek.

right now I'm working on doing hard tasks for elite void and crystal hally because after doing the calculations you can hit pest control portals for over 120 damage with it

I started playing in 2004 and played on and off until 2015 or so, sometimes taking years long breaks.

Highlights:
>sold my account 3 separate times, there was always good shit on it when I recovered it too. The last time I recovered it, the person I scammed was kind enough to have grinded a 99 magic cape for me

>received a temp ban for language during the original fally riots over removing wildy, I can still see the chat log in my profile. I was spamming "JAGEX MUNCH MY BUTTHOLE" kind of proud o that one. Pink robe fally riot, good times lads.

Anyway, In 2015 I started playing again after several years away. I bought a bunch of gold then grinded for a 99 herblore cape which is the one 99 I really wanted for some reason back when I started played in 05. Once i got 99 herb I played for a bit and had fun with overloads, but quickly got tired of the game. I gave away all my stuff, then repeatedly made racist comments in game until I get perma banned so I can never come back.

Because they have been consistently adding a LOT of shit to the game, soul wars is coming to osrs soon too. If you're referring to what is now known as RS3 though it's absolute garbage and I have no idea why they're still trying to force that on everyone when most of the playerbase (and their money) is still coming from old school. I imagine they have some nigger diversity hires that are working on rs3 while the actual people with talent are on osrs

Way back in the day I let some people on sythe.org get me my fire cape when I barely had the stats for it and kept fucking it up trying to do it myself. Worked out good and only cost a couple bucks.

I never made an OSRS account because the idea of having to start over after several years pissed me off, and like you I am aware of the dangers of account buying so I would never do it. Evolution of Combat killed the game permanently, and is a perfect example of game devs forcing changes because they feel they have to and ruining the game as a result. Same thing happened with Dota 2, the game is total shit now because instead of just having a period with relatively less development, they kept adding a bunch of new stupid shit and ruined the game.

Personally I don't really see things as either it's boring or it isn't, I gained far more feelings of accomplishment from actually making my gold vs buying it (and still do) but once I reached the point of making 20m+ there was a point where I could afford all of the mediocre gear, but the actual good shit like dragon claw, bandos, ancestral, etc were so expensive you either have to grind for a month straight or leave it to RNG doing some boss fights.

I don't really do clans and I hate needing to rely on other people for things like raids so this really only leaves me with grinding or simply dropping $30. You're right it does take away a part of the game because I simply bought the gold, but since it's runescape gold is really only 20% or less of the grind. It's just that instead of making money now I can focus on grinding levels, quests, and minigames instead.
