bitcoin isn't divisible by that much.

also you can't make small payments on BTC because the fee will be 5 times greater, even more higher the more that use BTC. because of full blocks. it would work with bitcoin cash but it is still not divisible by that much.

>> No.24455570

>>24454643

Yeah Satoshi planned for this.
That'll be 2 sats sir.
Or bits.
Take your pick.

It doesn't make sense to spend Bitcoin during a bullrun though. Hypothetically when Bitcoin achieves a much higher market cap, it stabilizes. Even then though, hodl.

>>24455462
It's divisible up to 8 decimal points IIRC, so, yes, it is highly divisible by a lot. Furthermore, if this becomes a huge problem, this can be changed via Bitcoin Core.

well can you count the decimal points in OP for me? also what exactly do you mean can be changed via bitcoin core?

>>24455625
yeah well the plan was never to cap blocks so the fees would be negligible, even less than the fees when you pay with your visa/mastercard

>> No.24456229

>>24455828
Yes counting is another thing altogether. You said divisibility though. We are in the intermediary stage where people can still buy entire integer Bitcoins for the price of a car, but to pay for coffee isn't pragmatic using decimals.

In the end (hypothetically as the price goes up), people will use the term sat, or bit. As those values will have more meaning. Years from now though, maybe decades.

Bitcoin Core are the devs responsible for altering the code, has the ability to create even more than 8 decimal points. You can create your own back of the napkin math in terms of how much Bitcoin would need to be in order for that to make sense, but it would need to go up by an obscene amount.

In the event that Bitcoin really does see adoption in the future, the only transactions on the blockchain would mostly be settlement layer for institutions. Or someone cashing out the Bitcoin they bought years ago as they retire. How often do people exchange gold? No need to constantly bog down the blockchain. As layer 2 eventually becomes more ubiquitous and thousands of third parties grow into the space, people will just pay with PayPal so you don't need decimals.

you pay for coffee in satoshis after a certain point

anyway i was about to go on a rant over the rest of your text but im tired so ill just leave it. i'll just say that needless layer 2 "solutions", arbitrary limiting of the main chain and blockstream can all go suck a fat nigger cock.

>> No.24456553

>>24456448
iirc satoshi talked about how layer 2 would be necessary, I assume it would also end up being necessary for bch or bsv if they actually gained mainstream adoption.

At the point a sat is worth one cent, it'll start being talked about. When a sat is worth one USD, it'll start being taken seriously, and once it breaks 2 dollars it'll get implemented. We'll probably see it in our lifetimes either due to widespread bitcoin adoption or dollar hyperinflation.
