Not much to say, we can all YOLO and loose money. It is mathematically proven that with high number of occurrences we get closer to the mean average of our returns. Not more than 1-2% max loss per trade.

i need a weekly put option for the 27th with a strike under 25, i just want the premium

>> No.24269377

got BTFO'd yesterday trying to do my usual trades I'd been doing for weeks on SPY and SQQQ
the poomp was too stronk
if the anon that was trading options of SLV is in here, I have now officially learned the lesson you were telling me to be careful of
fortunately got out with losing about a week's worth of gains, not months worth of gains, but still feels kinda shitty, need to learn to gtfo when things go against me and not just keep holding thinking it'll reverse if I just wait more
gonna maybe set a rule for myself to exit if it looks like I'm already down 2 days of gains

Just getting started, how do you profit on LEAPs?
PLTR 1/20/2023 $40 C for example is 12.70. So this needs to be $52.70 to break even and I only see big gains if it hits $50 in the middle of 2022.

Is that the point? I'm betting on $50 in 2022 and using the 1/20/2023 $40 C to get leverage on that $50 in 2022 bet?

The first step is to accept there is a problem , second step is to diversify your strategies , wanna buy ? That's fine , but buy debit spreads then , or buy and then hedge with a credit spread or sell far out strangles with wide wings

>> No.24269839

>>24269661
IV on PLTR right now is pretty crazy but yea buying calls is essentially long term leverage if you buy them long dated
I have 2 CLF calls that I'm up way more on than if I had just bought CLF itself for instance, 1/15/2021 11Cs, up 164$ on them, bought them for $50 total, if I had bought the same amount of CLF itself when I bought them I would only be up around 25~30
that being said if CLF didn't actually poomp I would've just lost everything and thetagang would get all my money

Leaps is a fuckin meme

Relevant for both people that want to buy or sell I suppose

>> No.24270262

ok to sum it up, it makes literally no sense to buy premium, why? because you need to trust the fuckin market, the market is perfect, the more liquid it is, the more perfect it is. What does that mean?

We SELL the 16-20 deltas, we sell 45 dte and we sell on high iv and high ivr. Want to long volatility? thats also fine, buy debit spreads.

LEAPS are a fuckin meme, that make also 0 sense whether you are a trader or not. Why spend so much capital on LEAPS instead of diversifying your strategies ? thats how you get low correlation against SPY and essentially low correlation is EXACTLY what diversification means, not just fuckin bonds and stonks

Alright thanks, I'm going to study more and try to make some directional plays.
>>24269850
>>24270262
Ok I'll learn about debit spreads.
I only sell options right now. I'm interested in longing vol because some of my theta buyers have made out like bandits.
It makes sense that the market has already priced LEAPs at expected value. But I don't understand your point about diversity. I'm not looking for a hedge, I'm looking for a leveraged alternative to a long position I already planned to take.

>> No.24270689

>>24270523
the strategy diversification is a new fruit for me, but the point is if you choose lets say 5 assets with low correlation, below 0,6 lets say, and then start building different strategies on them, so one 2 neutral strategies on gold + spy, 1 long volatility strategy on apple and lets say 2 credit spreads on QQQ, that will give you the optimal diversification, max loss and profit all at the same time (the above was just an example of beta weighing)
