Bitcoin defi will be possible on layer 2. Lightning network will allow bitcoin defi to become a reality. You will eventually be able to earn interest on Bitcoin.

Yes lightning does work and it can scale see pic related.

Stakenet has been stress testing it's lightning swaps with bots lately to see how the lightning network scales. As you can see they are off to a great start.

Within a few years I expect Bitcoin defi to become a real way to earn interest on bitcoin due to layer 2.

due to deflationary pressure, your LTV will constantly improve year-over-year.
so you will never payback the principal and each year take out another 40-50% loan on newly created value.
